We’re still feeling refreshed and inspired by all the cooperators that connected, shared and learned from one another at the Worker Co-op Conference in September. Gratitude to all our incredible sponsors for their generous support that made this 400+ person event possible. ❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥

Many of our sponsor supporters are unions, worker co-ops, co-op support organizations, non-extractive finance organizations, and solidarity economy advocates. If your co-op needs some support or you’re seeking allies in your corner, get in touch with these fabulous people supporting our movement! #WCC26 #WorkerCoops

In this episode, Margo Dalal from @seedcommons and I dive into questions ranging from what actually are cooperatives? How can place-based lending scale? Can an investment ever really be non-extractive? What can that look like in practice? And so, so much more!

I got to go to a phenomenal event in Baltimore, Maryland focused on how Black people have always used cooperation to meet our needs and build our futures. Hosted by @bred.baltimore with leadership from @xavionbefree it featured some really phenomenal speakers. BRED is a powerful organizing force bolstering the co-op ecosystem in Baltimore, and they’re part of the national financing cooperative @seedcommons

Speakers included:
-Ed Whitfield, co-op economics living legend
-Tenille Patterson, economic freedom strategist
-Vinny Green, co-owner of @Taharka Brother Ice cream

Still Standing On Cooperative Business 🫡

A few weeks ago @seedcommons came to Richmond CA and brought members from across the country to learn from the diverse body of work we're doing to expand economic democracy and support small businesses in our city.

Princess Robinson, executive director of @richmond_land talks about their work building community power around the community land trust model, taking land off the speculative market and putting it into the hands of the people to enable permanently affordable housing.

Ms. Tamara, owner of @multiculturalbookstore hosted a bus load of cooperative enthusiast from Seed Commons and spoke about the magic found in books and lifelong learning. She also revealed her desire to convert the bookstore into a workers cooperative where she received a wave of praise and encouragement from the attendees.

Cooperation Richmond is proud to be standing on cooperative business with such great giants in the work and pillars in the community, looking forward to connecting more deeply with those who came with Seed Commons to strengthen our coop network.

Stay tuned!

Look at how many organizations are supporting us to put on the biggest worker co-op conference in the country - we’re so grateful!! 😍😍

Thank you all for the generosity and commitment to making sure worker-owners and co-op advocates can come together, learn from one another in person and grow the cooperative movement for a worker-owned economy. It’s been two years and we’re so excited.

Who is coming to the 2026 Worker Co-op Conference in Boston Sept 25 & 26?? Sound off in the comments with what you’re most excited about - the full session schedule is NOW LIVE on wcc26.usworker.coop

5 years ago, Metta Integrative Wellness transitioned to a cooperative business model. It was a leap that has been well worth the time and effort and we’re proud to be operating in a way that aligns with our values as practitioners.

Thanks to @bred.baltimore and @seedcommons for the (continued) help, to each and every employee-owner past & present, and of course to our community of clients for supporting us through continual evolution. We couldn’t have made it this far without you!

The Story Behind The Glory:

Reem's ~ Jack London 🌉 @reemscalifornia

Shout-out the entire Coop mega team, @uptimacoop × @seedcommons × Cooperation Richmond, we all worked together to support Reem's in becoming a worker owned coop!

We went to see co-owner Rebeca and she says things are delicious 😋, meaning going very well for the cooperative, and that this lemonade is one of their best sellers.

Lemonade is a perfect example of taking something super sour and turning it into something sweet, mouth quenching, and delightful, with the right amount of ingredients and a lil bit of love, anything is transformable.

Reem's Cafe is a growing model for how you can come from inspiration to innovation!

If you haven't already, stop by Reem's and let them know @cooprichmond sent you and get a bite of what cooperative works tastes like in real life.
