BTS from ‘There’s More to the Story’ portrait commision. Lighting tests with @danhilburn, Matteo and Archie in the morning. I really wanted to light this series of portraits in a way that felt layered and considered… almost like a painting. Using both daylight and continuous lights in Studio 1 at @bakerstreetstudios we were able to set the mood in the room that could be felt even before a single photo had been taken. For me the constant ‘beep’ of a flash ruins the important moments of connection on set.

You may not realise that people living with cystic fibrosis are generally advised not to meet in person because of the risk of cross-infection.

People with CF can carry certain bacteria in their lungs that may not pose the same risk to the general population, but can be particularly harmful to another person with CF. This means that being together in the same space can carry risks that most people never have to think about. You may have heard of this through the film ‘Five Feet Apart’, which is based around this very real part of living with CF.

Because I also live with cystic fibrosis, creating There’s More to the Story meant we had to think carefully about how I could photograph each person safely. We put strict infection-control protocols in place throughout the production to minimise the risk of cross-infection between myself and each of the people I photographed.

It added another layer to the making of this series — one that isn’t visible in the final portraits, but is very much part of the story behind them.

Red has a long association with cystic fibrosis, particularly through the story of 65 Roses, a phrase that came from a young child mishearing “cystic fibrosis” as “65 roses”, with the red rose going on to become a widely recognised symbol within the CF community.

I wanted to carry that history into the portraits in a subtle way, using red as a recurring visual thread throughout the sets.

As a photographer I think we all chase that feeling when all the elements in front of your lens finally come to life like you imagined in your head. It’s hard to put into wo

SUNDAY SCROLL: The Wild South Collection

When I started designing this collection with @double.online.au, I didn’t want just rugs. I wanted stories. Memories. Landscapes you could feel underfoot.

Wild South is a love letter to Tasmania. Inspired by cliffs and coves, soft mossy forests and dramatic coastlines, each rug captures a place I love, reimagined for your home.

These rugs are made to last, feel incredible, and bring soul into every corner of your home.

And if you’re curious how they might look in your space, you can order samples to see the colours and textures in real life before you commit.

Have you been to Tasmania? If you have, what was your favourite spot?

When @wk_sydney knocked on my email and said “Hey! We’re moving to Sydney! Can you make our new space feel cosy and a bit weird?” I got verrrrrry excited. “YES PLEASE!”
I have so many elements to share of this project. Sooo many incredible makers / creators / painters worked with me to bring this cosy, freak show space to life.

First up thank you to @chri.s.w @unbeleibowitz & @matthew0wen and Calvin! for saying yes to most of my whack ideas and colour combos.

Starting with the main office area:
All the hand painted signage in the office is by the legendary @stevesmithart2
These hand painted tiled walls were done by the incredible @seekoch
Akari Lights in entrance @jardanfurniture
Custom burger lamp by @rubble.workshop
Koala 🐨 friend I found @mitchellroadantiques and had to have him.
They wanted fun desks, so we had @wildsets hand paint 10 custom desks in warped colour combos and sat them on many, many vintage rugs, a lot from @rexrugsmelbourne and some fun ones from @double.online.au
I found the giant cobra in a junk shop and knew she’d be a good mascot for the crew, her yellow eyes following them all day!

Designing and decorating this space was so much fun. And I haven’t even shown you the kitchen or the back room yet!
