Eight years ago, when my older son Hriday left for college, he started something that has become one of the most precious gifts to our family. ❤️

Every time he came home, he would sit with his Daadi and record her memoirs — her journey, her memories, her poetry, her anecdotes, her stories. At the time, perhaps none of us realised just how priceless those little voice notes would become.

Today, listening to her voice again feels like opening a treasure chest of memories. 🥹

This little voicenote is one she made about me. I’ve added it to the million memories I have of her and me — memories of a woman who was so progressive, so warm, so wonderfully ahead of her time. She was much more than a mother-in-law; she was a beautiful presence in my life and someone I was deeply lucky to know.

And now, all we have are these videos, these voice notes, these stories… and the memories they keep alive.

Thank you, Hriday, for giving us a way to hear her voice forever. ❤️

Celebrating a Life Beautifully Lived. 🌸

Our matriarch, who lived gloriously into her 90s, leaves behind a legacy that is so much more than the years she lived.

She was a progressive, forward-thinking woman — always curious, always positive, always open to the world around her. She spoke ill of no one, carried no bitterness, and somehow left everyone she met feeling loved, valued and welcomed.

She found joy in the simplest and most beautiful things — her love for cooking, her books, poetry, keeping up with the news, her friendships and, above all, her family. Her grandchildren were not just her grandchildren; they were her friends, her confidants, her greatest source of laughter and joy. She had the most wonderful sense of humour and a wit that stayed with her till the very end.

Three decades ago, she welcomed me into her home with flowers, warmth and unconditional love. That home became a place filled with memories, laughter, food, stories and generations of love.

And today, we chose to send her home in the same spirit in which she lived.

With flowers strewn along her path, showers of flowers, the sound of drums, and coins showered in celebration, we accompanied her on her final journey — not only mourning her passing, but celebrating the extraordinary life she lived.

Because she taught us that life is meant to be embraced with curiosity, kindness, humour and love.

Our matriarch. Our storyteller. Our friend. Our home.

You came into our lives with flowers, and today we sent you onward with flowers.

May your final journey be as beautiful, joyful and full of love as the life you gave all of us. 🌸❤️

You will forever live on in the hearts, stories and laughter of the family you loved so deeply.

$We lost our rockstar today. She was everything we were in awe of.. strong, intelligent, confident, & funny right till the very end. She handled life with so much strength & grace. The backbone of our family, she lived 93 beautiful years, & left behind a family that carries so much of her in us. I hope I inherit even a fraction of her strength, her wit, her courage & her ability to face anything life put in front of her. We were so lucky to have you. Rest in peace Nani. You were truly one of a kind.🤍$
