SUNSET PLACE

A love letter to Miami,
written by a Hurricane Andrew baby born in ‘93 who left for 13 years and returned with fresh eyes, discovering beauty in a place that once felt small but has since transformed. Memories clash with the current reality, as I return to the comforting places of my youth, only to find them changed.

Interestingly, how little I used to feel like I belonged here, yet now I see my reflection everywhere I look.

Written in my favorite medium, yarn.

SUNSET PLACE
Moving back to Miami after 13 years. I realized the Miami I knew was slipping away. The city I left in 2011 was unrecoenizable. The Desien District full of upscale shops: trendy cafes littered Coconut Grove and the temple of my youth.
Sunset Place a backrooms-esque shell of its former self.
This collection is a reflection of the Miami in my memors clashing with the one in front of my eyes
.

Coming back to Miami
much of a reflection of it I’ve always been
Pastels and neons my favorite colors
Loud, warm places aremy preference
Being back in and from such a beautiful place. but also such a campy place has greatly shaped
