Hey, hey, hey!

I’m organizing a Photowalk in Scarborough, Ontario. Very different environment than the heart of Toronto. Challenge your creativity shooting street in a suburban setting.

We will start at the South East corner of Kennedy and Eglinton. Kennedy Subway Station is right there. You can take the subway or Eglinton LRT. The walk will start at 1pm.

First stop will be a closed downed strip mall. If you’re into graffiti, this stop is for you.

Then we’ll proceed west along Eglinton to snap suburban shops and residential scenes.

A turn up Birchmount to zigzag through an Industrial area. Then into the HydroOne High Voltage Transmission Right of Way towards Warden.

Finally ending at the City of Toronto Water Tower at Warden and Eglinton.

All camera formats welcome. If you’re a newbie, I’ll be there to help you out with both camera setting and composition. I’ll stop at various places along the way to guide some ideas.

If shooting film, I recommend an ISO 100 colour or B&W film if sunny. 400 if overcast and grey.

If you have wide angle lens: 35, 28, 24 mm or wider (or equivalent for other film or sensor formats), bring it. Lots of opportunity for urban landscapes, commercial and industrial architecture, residential yards, and textural compositions. Negative space will be your friend. 😎

The walk is designed to challenge, network, educate, and have some fun along the way.

It’ll be about a 2hr walk. At the end, if you want, we can end at one of several nearby establishments to regale the day!

A fun photo walkabout in Koreatown organized by @justinwongjw Met some very cool folks on this walk. Hope to see them again next time I’m in Town. These are some snaps from my iPhone.

Photo challenge: color hunting

It was such a fun night just walking the city, chasing light, and seeing how everyone interpreted the same installations differently. If you haven’t been yet, go explore and shoot it your way. Make sure to tag us so we can check out your shots 📸
