Linda was a stalwart friend in the process of making an LA show happen. Plus, I got to swim in the wake of her beautiful set of lush, aching songs.

A reminder that as temps soar, Sun Space is the coolest place to be on Sunday...

Toby Summerfield plays musical homage to various bodies of water, drawing on each place's specific character. I can't think of a better way to wind down a heat-saturated weekend...

Chances are good.

A couple months ago, a friend and fellow musician by chance pointed Toby Summerfield toward Vernacular, and we found a date to present his solo music during his current tour.

Toby plays a sort of high-intensity ambient music that vibrates, shifts, and shimmers. You might think of it as experimentalism in search of beauty and connection. Toby’s solo music builds on ‘… vocabulary and techniques that I have developed with specific long-running music friends… strategies, sounds, approaches, textures and vibes to meet them and hopefully rise to the occasion… includ[ing] an attempt to share the body-felt experience of making it.’

Joining Toby this evening are local friends: see night, a compelling solo song performance that blurs and moves beyond tradition in compelling ways, and percussionist Corey Fogel, always an inventive presence and rewarding experience.

Set One:
Corey Fogel - percussion
Set Two:
see night (solo) - voice + guitar
Set Three:
Toby Summerfield (solo) - guitars + voice

See our link in bio to find Toby's latest record, and the impetus for his solo tour, Bodies of Water

I promise not to talk like Sam Elliot while I gaze at Los Angeles at night.
