Everyone at the shelter had to say goodbye to their favorite girl but they knew she was finally getting her chance.

Meet Fabby Tabby! This 1 year old, 66 lb bundle of love spent 5 months in the shelter. She may have grown up behind kennel doors, but she was SO loved by the behavior team. She was a playgroup superstar who played with over 40 dogs during her time there!

And now that she’s had the chance to decompress in my home, I can confidently say this girl is a total unicorn.

She’s dog friendly with dogs of ALL sizes, cat friendly, house trained, and crate trained! She loves lounging in the sun, curling up in your lap, and being the ultimate cuddle bug. She’s always down to play but is just as happy relaxing by your side.

Fabby Tabby is also SO goofy, her mouth is open in pure confusion approximately 50% of the day.

The behavior team loved her. I love her. And now it’s time for her forever family to fall in love, too.

Want your dog to check in with you more often? Make it worth their while!
This is a simple game I use to build engagement. I toss a treat away, let the dog go get it, and reward them when they choose to turn back and offer eye contact.
Rather than constantly asking for our dogs’ attention, we want to teach them that choosing to engage with us is rewarding!
Giving dogs the opportunity to make choices is so important, especially for rescue dogs who may have had limited opportunities to make their own decisions. By letting them choose to engage and rewarding those moments, we’re building a foundation for a stronger relationship.
The goal is for your dog to WANT to check in with you, not because you’ve asked them to, but because they’ve learned that good things happen when they do!
