CHAPTER 3/3: INTERNAL CONTROL | YOU AS DISPLAY

At some point, nothing needs to be imposed from the outside.
You begin selecting yourself.

You adjust your behavior, your desires, your identity, your expressions, before anything or anyone responds. You maintain what you think will be accepted, liked, chosen, understood.

What began as external influence becomes an internal system. Taste is no longer just what you prefer, it becomes how you survive socially, emotionally, even personally, when no one is watching.

You are no longer only part of the audience. You are also part of the display. A product continuing the same system that shaped it.

What isn’t selected doesn’t disappear. It stays behind, unmaintained, until it rots. Neglect is still a form of shaping.

CHAPTER 2/3: INTERNAL SHIFT

Over time, exposure stops feeling like influence and becomes instinct.

You don’t learn what you like but rather you learn what you are supposed to like. You begin to recognize yourself through repetition. Approval starts to feel conditional, shaped by what has been rewarded around you often enough to feel “right.”

Taste expands into everything: how you connect, how you attach, how you reject, how you belong. Until it is no longer something you have, it becomes the structure you build yourself through.

CHAPTER 1/3 : MANUFACTURED VISIBILITY

You don’t start with choice. You start with exposure.

Not only in what you like, but in who you trust, who you approach, what you find desirable, what feels safe, and what does not. Everything arrives already arranged around you. Some things are repeated until they feel natural. Others are absent enough to feel impossible.

Before you ever choose anything taste, attraction, friendship, identity, the system has already narrowed what can be seen as available to choose from. And from that narrowing, you begin to form what you call taste.
