Why is it so important for athletes to activate and prime specific muscle groups before training?

Because preparation isn’t just part of the workout—it’s what sets the body up to perform at its best.

A targeted activation warm-up helps:
* Prime the nervous system so muscles are ready to fire
* Improve muscle engagement so key muscles like the glutes and core do their job
* Increase blood flow to working muscles and joints
* Improve range of motion for stronger, more efficient movement
* Reduce injury risk by preparing prime movers and stabilizers to work together
* Maximize power output by getting the nervous system ready to recruit fast-twitch muscle fibers

Don’t just show up and train. Prepare to perform. The little things done before training can make a big difference when it’s time to compete.

Activate. Prepare. Perform. Repeat.

Why do you see our athletes performing different squat variations?

Because there’s no one-size-fits-all squat.

Every athlete has different strengths, limitations, goals, and movement patterns. That’s why we use specific squat variations, progressions, and regressions to meet athletes where they are and help them perform at their highest level.

✅ Unilateral squats build balance and correct asymmetries
✅ Jump squats develop explosive power and speed
✅ Front and overhead squats improve core strength and posture
✅ Belt and box squats allow athletes to train around injuries safely
✅ Stance and setup changes help target specific muscle groups

The goal isn’t just to squat more—it’s to squat smarter.

Train the athlete, not the exercise.

We’re excited to spotlight one of our very first partners, Dr. Kyle Banner of @ets.grandrapids.mi

As both a Chiropractor and Functional Movement Specialist, Dr. Banner has played a vital role in helping our youth, high school, collegiate, and professional athletes perform at their highest level.

Athletic performance isn’t just about strength, speed, and skill—it’s about having a body that moves efficiently, recovers effectively, and is prepared for the demands of competition.

Through a combination of chiropractic care and functional movement assessment, Dr. Banner helps athletes identify limitations, improve movement quality, and address issues before they become injuries.

Whether it’s prehab—preventing injuries before they occur—or rehab—guiding athletes safely back to competition—his goal is always the same: helping athletes move better, feel better, and compete with confidence.

What truly sets Dr. Banner apart is his commitment to every athlete he works with. He takes the time to understand each individual’s needs and develops a personalized approach to help them return to the gym, field, court, or pool healthy, resilient, and ready to perform at 100%.

As a special offer, Dr. Banner is providing 50% off an initial consultation for all ETS members.

Don’t wait until an injury sidelines your progress—invest in your movement, recovery, and performance today. Reach out to Dr. Banner to learn more!

Why do we add an overhead component to movements for our athletes?

✅ Builds shoulder stability & mobility
✅ Strengthens core stiffness for better force transfer
✅ Improves muscular balance and posture
✅ Enhances throwing, hitting, and jumping performance
✅ Helps reduce upper-extremity injury risk

Overhead training challenges the entire kinetic chain to work as one powerful, coordinated system—creating stronger, healthier, and more resilient athletes.

Why do we prioritize multi-directional carries? Because sport isn’t played in straight lines.

Lateral, diagonal, and rotational carries build real-world strength across all planes of motion—frontal, sagittal, and transverse—so athletes can move with control, power, and resilience in unpredictable environments.

Here’s what that translates to:
• Stronger, more stable joints and core under dynamic load• Better balance and control during cuts, pivots, and deceleration• Increased injury resistance by training what linear lifting misses• Faster, more efficient change-of-direction ability• True functional strength with full-body tension, grip, and coordination

We don’t just train movement—we prepare athletes for the chaos of competition.
