London-based non-profit trans creative space @fort.london has released an all-trans 2024 calendar of 14 stunning prints to raise money to open their new community print studio 🏳️‍⚧️

Over 50 trans artists came together to create the calendar, which contains 14 individual works; including the cover, 1 image per month, and a calendar page featuring days important to the trans community.

Fundraising to build a non-profit printshop for the queer community in their already existing space in Stoke Newington, London, proceeds from the calendar will be used to expand FORT’s printing space and pay every creative involved with the project, as well as help fund training and workshops to support queer artists and provide more sources of income to creatives in the future.

Speaking to GAY TIMES about the reason behind the calendar, FORT’s founder @boy.king.tattoo said: “Distribution of our art and our ideas outside of mainstream censorship is vital for our survival. Our community needs space to organise and create and exist as though our lives weren't only defined by resistance.

"A space where we can write our own stories away from surveillance and commodification by and for others.”

Head to @fort.london to get your calendar today.

It’s happening! After much graft from many amazing queers, we are opening FORT for a Tattoo Flash Day and Open House this Monday, 29th of May.

Five of our artists will be tattooing during the day and you’ll also get the chance to buy artwork (or trade for it) and hang out in our space. As FORT is entirely community built/funded, we have made a list of things we still need for the space at www.sokindregistry.org/FORT. Please have a look and tick off anything you can contribute. In return for these gifts we’ll be trading trans joy t-shirts by @squarepegtattoo, A3 risograph prints (made by our artists and printed by @camp.books.and.prints) and the last few FORT 2023 calendars.

Swipe for tattoo flash sheets from our artists who will be tattooing on the day (in order) @segadoeslines, @alien_ink_, @boy.king.tattoo, @lagershandytattoo and @sian_shine__

FLASH DAY INFO
From 10am to 6pm we will be doing first come first serve flash tattoos. Please click on the link in our bio to book an arrival time. We’ll email you more info and the address once you’ve signed up. Booking an arrival time does not guarantee a tattoo, you’ll still need to choose an artist and a design and get in their queue when you arrive. We’ll call you when it’s 15 minutes to your appointment, so you can hang out at the studio or go for a walk/coffee while you wait.

We’ll only be tattooing on arms and legs and in black ink.

OPEN HOUSE INFO:
From 7.30pm to 10pm, we will put down our needles and join you in our Open Studio to celebrate all our hard work! We will have music from @thedollnameddan and (vegan gluten-free) cake from our sponsor @kweenkream, as well as non-alcoholic drinks, and Riso prints from all our resident artists on sale.

Many of you from the trans community have put so much of your own time to help us build this space and we’d love for you all to see it!

Please RSVP to the flash day and/or the open studio via the link in our bio. We will have a monitored guest list at the door to comply with our building regulations so please make sure to register!

❗️FORT is a sober space, alcoholic drinks will not be available and are not allowed into our studio.

Ready to start meeting some of our resident artists?

Meet Sega (he/him)

@segadoeslines is a self/community-taught artist, who through his identity as a gay trans man channels queerness and transness in his artwork. He is particularly interested in creating artwork which represents these identities through collective history, emotions & humour.

He started learning to tattoo in the early stages of transition, and became an active member of the London queer tattoo scene shortly after. He discovered a passion for creating lasting & personal artworks for people's bodies & fell in love with tattooing as a means to connect with queer community, as well as a means to help trans people to reclaim authority over their body.

He says “I tattoo using handpoke to create delicate pieces which combine elements of fine line & semi-realism. I love working with queer imagery & history as well as any other themes that inspire me like ancient artefacts, poetic images, animals - sometimes with a meme slapped on top! “

All our residents have designed prints which will be made by @camp.books.and.prints on their riso graph printer and will be available at our opening flash day and after party on the 8th of May. the first image here is Sega’s. Dm him to book ✨
