This is definitely a super satisfying craft, ideal for beginners and inpatient people (like me 🙂‍↕️)

Happy international women’s day! My work as a participant for CSW70 with @unwomenuk officially starts tomorrow, and I’m really looking forward to learn from so many people and organisations about their work to safeguard, uplift and upskill women and girls through CSW70.

And if you think why is it necessary to have a UN Commission on the Status of Women, I’d like to invite you to reflect on the fact that no country in the world has achieved full legal equality for women. Simply put, this means that in every corner of the world, laws treat women and men differently.

CSW70’s theme this year is: Ensuring and strengthening access to justice for all women and girls, including by promoting inclusive and equitable legal systems, eliminating discriminatory laws, policies, and practices, and addressing structural barriers.

Globally, women hold just 64% of the legal rights of men. At the same time, rising conflicts, democratic backsliding, economic pressures, shrinking civic space and organised pushback against longstanding commitments on women’s rights are converging to erode the foundations of gender equality.

If you’re thinking “what can I do?”, there’s something very simple you can start with. Listen to women, and believe women. On a community level, what you can work towards is organising collective action that challenges harmful norms and prevents violence, and making sure all the spaces you participate in are safe, women and girls can organise, support one another, and exercise their voice.

On an organisational perspective as I run two different creative organisations, my focus is working with institution - across civil society, the private sector, and public services - that embed gender equality in their cultures, policies, and practices. Remove discriminatory barriers and ensure accountability, transparency, and meaningful participation of ALL women and girls in decision-making.

I’m really looking forward to share with you all the learnings from the next two weeks and in the meantime stay angry, stay proactive, and organise!

🏺 Our Collect Recap 🧶
This week I will be posting my favourite artworks from Collect at @somersethouse every day. Another post about the work at @alvestongallerynottinghill, this time it’s vessels by Evelyn Albrow.

This is “O angels, you – Cecilia’s celestial choir” (2025) by @evelyna86. This vessel is part of a series depicting female protagonists seeking a new, collective way of living, inspired by Hélène Cixous’s call for the feminine “new to break from the old”. Drawing on spiritual and secular utopias, it explores community, solidarity and feminism. Influenced by medieval polychromed carvings and 13th-century Italian frescoes, it also echoes Hildegard von Bingen’s Songs for the Celestial Choir, as well as the artist’s own joy in communal singing.

The galley’s presentation for Collect explores how humour, history, fragility, and imagined worlds converge, revealing how artworks hold lived experience, whether playful, intimate, or epic. It invites viewers into the artists’ own evolving mythologies.

New (bi-monthly??) series 😌 if you’ve been here since 2021 you know I used to post these type of videos all the time, showing new stitches as I was learning them! Now thanks to my Low Buy Year documentation on @seihtstudio I’ve picked up WIPs I hadn’t finished in years and thought “let’s make more Blankets for the World squares!” 🧶

It’s been years since I’ve learned how to knit now and (shocking) I don’t consider myself a beginner anymore so… here are all my favourite blanket stitches! If you’ve got a favourite stitch you’d like me to show on video, comment below!! ⬇️

If you told me 5 years ago that I’d be actually running MULTIPLE arts organisations I wouldn’t have believed you 🤪

Back then, I was finishing up my MA in Contemporary Art, struggling to find community because of Covid, was so frustrated at how inaccessible the art world was, and just generally doubting myself that without money and contacts I would have never gone far pursuing a creative career.

Now I honestly feel so lucky that I push through and that this gets to be my job ❤️

This journey wasn’t instant, easy or perfect, but it was so worth it. I had so many jobs in between, usually working between two to three at any given time (cost of living innit) and what I kept telling myself is that I could still call myself an artist, because art can take so many different shapes. It took me a long time to get to a point where I feel comfortable with what I make and don’t make, and I’m constantly changing my mind and trying different things, and that’s okay too.

If you’re in a bit of a wtf am I doing phase, keep going!! Future you is going to be so damn proud 💕

I’m knitting my favourite challenges from @thegameofwool 👐

My rules are:
1. Only using yarn I already have in my stash 🧶
2. Making things I know I am going to use 🧰
3. I will time myself (but not follow challenge times) 🕰️

This is a colour work vest inspired by the very first episode! I had a lot of fun designing all the different sections and I really surprised myself by knitting it up in 24 hours only ✌️
