Clay captured this from his phone during Selah’s senior pictures this weekend.
And yes, I was crying in this picture. Yes, I cried during the session. Yes, I even walked to my car and cried there, too.
But they were happy tears. Grateful tears. Amazed tears. Not one sad tear.
As I watched her, all I could think was…

No one would ever know that LESS THAN a week ago, she was septic and fighting for her life in a hospital bed.
No one would know that the beads she’s holding are LESS THAN half of her Beads of Courage.
No one — not even me — can fully understand how hard she has fought her body with her spirit and soul against every impossible moment, just to be standing here.

She is beyond a warrior.
She is elite.
She is not just determined — she is courage in its purest form.
She is not just strong — she defines what it means to persevere in weakness.

Most importantly, her faith in God and her relationship with Him are beyond measure. Steady, fierce, and unshaken.
- This part of who she is has been deeply shaped by her pastors, who are far more than pastors — they are living examples of what it means to walk out faith with love, courage, and consistency. Their “MO” is: Speak Life and Love Well

when you and your girl show up in matching PJs😚🩷
This is my good friend, @selah.advocates. I met Selah here in February. We struggle with many of the same health issues, we are the same age, and we serve the same Lord. Her and her parents have been a rock for us the last few months.
Middle of the night phone calls when scary things happen with my central line…
Random questions regarding TPN things…
Store runs for each other when we’re in the hospital together…
Christlike love and support for each other…
And best of all, prayer…even in the hardest valley.

When I was in PICU, Selah’s mom, Mrs Emily, drove over an hour to the hospital after midnight, stayed awake with us all night long, and most of the day. She helped us advocate. She helped us figure things out. She stood over my bed, holding my hands, and praying for hours.

God puts people in our lives when we need them the most. Selah’s family is one of them. Selah has also been through this surgery, and her hardest moments have become my survival guide.

Please say a prayer for my girl, as she has many unanswered health issues like myself. Please pray for peace, comfort, quick release from the hospital, and healing (if God be pleased).

I love you, Sweet Selah, and I’m blessed to do life with you. 💐🩷
