Sela Colbert is a true Atlanta native. A full-time student at Morris Brown College with a passion for dance, horses, fashion, and the western lifestyle. A true line dance connoisseur and teacher, she loves bringing people together through rhythm and movement. When she’s not leading a dance floor, you can find her in the saddle — she’s been riding horses for six years and is now on an exciting journey to become a breakaway and team roper.

Her love for horses runs deep in her family roots. Her great-great-great-great grandfather, Benjamin the Younger, was a tenant farmer turned horse trainer who, according to oral tradition, was the first Black man to own a horse in the Tunstall District on the Dan River after slavery. Records even show he sold a bay horse named Frank in 1884 for $90! Whether or not he was the very first, Sela proudly carries on his legacy as one of the first horsemen in the district, continuing a family story of courage, resilience, and passion for the ride.
