Spring Women’s Circles are here… would you like to join us?

For the last 5 years, I have been facilitating Women’s Circles in my little town of Yackandandah. Time on Country with such an array of diverse and stunning women continues to be such a gift.

Want to know what this feels like, but feeling a little nervous? I *totally* get it. Our capitalist and patriarchal systems have wedged such a divide between women over time - it takes courage, safer spaces and gentler conversations to heal this dynamic - and it’s happening over here in North East Victoria. 💜💜💜

For me, witnessing women gather with compassion, curiousity and loving kindness is one of the most powerful and precious things to behold. There is so much magic possible when women gather!!!

So, this spring, may we nurture ourselves back into the warm light of longer & brighter days - together x

Selby Ginn is a multidisciplinary artist who explores ideas relating to time, the feminine, categorisation and control. Ginn uses her own symbolic language to express a deeper connection to these concepts. She is now extending into plaited leatherwork and two of these belts are on display alongside her sculpture ‘The dream’ as part the exhibition ‘True Winter’.

🌼Spring Women’s Circles 🌼 *almost full!*

Alongside artist & dear friend, @selbyginn 💛

One of the many beautiful gifts of facilitating these circles in our community, lies in the inevitable embodiment of the fact that I am also a woman of this world, flapping my arms around as I figure this whole ‘life thing’ out, hoping to feel stronger and more resilient on the other side.

But there is no ‘other side’.
We are IN IT - all of the time -
and often, alone.

So, if we can give ourselves permission to share and witness each other’s sense of isolation, inner turmoil, confusion, self-doubt, fears, joy, expansion, life-wins & complexities, then…

We give ancient, ever-growing power back to ourselves and each other.
We choose connection and vulnerability, over disconnect and isolation.

In the beautiful words of Tasmanian Poet, Helen Power:
“Respond, my heart, to all the sounds of earth
That echo through the circle of the years,
The human voice of pain and death and birth…”

Our Women’s Circles are a safe haven for us to explore the edges of ourselves with curiosity and tenderness, so that we may continue to grow;
To sit on the earth together, and perhaps walk away from Circle, feeling more equipped to respond to all that life is asking of us - simply because being together was enough.

I feel so grateful to have found you here, and hope so much to spend some time amongst the Wattle with you this Spring.

Incredible Christmas with family 2023.

So blessed to celebrate with family from afar and very Excited to finally surprise the kids with a trip to the Whitsundays and also their very own little sail boat to learn to sail.

Though the day was full of love, cheer and happiness, our hearts go out to all who are impacted in the intense storms Christmas night. Thank goodness we had @nathansjeep at home to help prep the house for the storm and save everything outside.

Merry Christmas to everyone and remember to hold your loved ones close xo

We're excited to head off to Bendigo tomorrow night to see this wonderfully curated show by @wovenspoke. Bringing together some of our favourite local makers under a summer theme of Picnic. 🌼🌞🧺🍉🐝 The opening is on Friday November 24, from 5-7pm. We'd all be thrilled to see as many friends as possible there in support of such a fun summer vibe exhibition. The gallery space is inside the Bendigo Visitor Centre and is open 9-5 x7 days a week.

Selby Ginn

Pronouns she/her

Selby is a visual artist who lives on the land known by its Traditional Owners as Dja Dja Wurrung Djandak in Daylesford in Regional Victoria.

Selby explores ideas surrounding the collective unconscious, archetypes, gender, materialism, and semiotics.

Through repetitive empirical processes a hybrid anthropomorphic form is created within her work, a totemic offering to contemplate.
Selby’s sculptures are constructed using leather, this material undergoes the process of living and then dying, this is an important process to recognize, as Ginn believes this natural cycle inhabits the materials of her work.

Leather is sourced within a circular economy, through furniture makers and designers, Selby’s reappropriation of leather allows little to none of this sacred material to be wasted.
