A few months ago, @dna.dna._ & @nike came to me & @universolefootgear with an amazing opportunity to work with them in an activation for @aja22wilson signature sneaker here in Detroit. AND WHAT A TIME IT WAS! I was given the opportunity to host a panel of two wonderful women who inspire and break barriers in male dominated arenas and it was an honor to speak with them in front of young ladies that aspire to be part of the best sport in the world. A big thank you to @jo_monay & @tianna_marieeee for dropping gems and sharing your story. This two day event was meant to showcase the outstanding pillars and achievements of A’ja and what it means to be A REAL ONE. From an intimate setting on day one, to an all out community event on day two, I will forever cherish the lessons learned, gained, & taught. A big thank you to @annabellesaco for the photos, @bosscupid.nails for the fly nails, @_.cierbond, @wheretherunat_313 & @selfmadezae_ for helping Coach Obey with the skills and clinic, @djgifted313 with the entertainment, @iamjcoop & @peaceplayers_us for helping us bring joy to the young ladies that participated, @besocialplease @thesocialstatus for the space, @juicebox_blend for the smoothies, & the many others behind the scenes that made this all possible. (Please lemme know in the comments of other photographers/videographers as I might not have their handles) On another note, thank you to my mentor Dr. Edwards for giving me advice and encouragement to be able to speak and ask questions with confidence. He doesn’t have socials but I needed to express the sentiment regardless lol Again, a big HUGE thank you to my husband for the love and support in everything I had to do. & the work we both put into to this. My kids for tagging along and being a part of this experience. 😘 Dan the Man, THANK YOU for trusting me in bringing my ideas, creativity, & contributions to this amazing project. UNIVERSOLE FOOTGEAR is not only an instagram handle for D, but a brand that hopes to bring more love and culture to the community. We have something for yall that I know you will appreciate and can’t wait to share what’s next for UFG 😜

“If everyone helps to hold up the sky, then one person does not become tired.” 🗣🏀🧠 Together we hold up the sky (our youth) and not grow weary because we support each other. Hooper Mentality camps are only as successful as they are because of the volunteer coaches that invest into them, that help plan and that give their most valuable asset - TIME! We are grateful to have an amazing group of coaches here in Detroit.
