After a relaxing week back home Semaj is starting medical school and let’s just say …I survived medical school move-in! 😩

Our adventure was definitely giving “trials come to make you strong.”

✔️ Delayed a day because the car wasn’t ready.
✔️ Drove through Canada’s and Michigan’s smoky skies to meet tornado warnings, and thunderstorms in New York.
✔️ Arrived to an apartment that was an absolute NO.
✔️ Had to put on my Lawyer Mom hat and miraculously a cleaner apartment appeared. 😏
✔️ Bought all of her necessities…and then got pooped on by birds. 🐦😂
✔️ Stayed up all night cleaning to board my flight back on three hours of sleep.
✔️ God sent another reminder that He is always working when I met a sorority sister at the airport whose niece graduated from Spelman and is now at the University of Rochester School of Medicine.

And as I headed to my flight home, I literally tagged Miles in at the airport to pick up where I left off and make sure Semaj was all set for orientation tomorrow. It truly takes a village, and I am so grateful for ours. Knowing she was surrounded by people who genuinely care made it a little easier to board that plane.

The best part? I left a smiling daughter, full of peace, confidence, and excitement—ready to begin her journey toward becoming Dr. Semaj Torain.

Sweet girl, go live your best life. Dream big. Work hard. Trust God. Enjoy every moment of the journey.

To God be all the glory. Thanks for your prayers and support. 🙏🏾💕💚

If you’d like to celebrate and bless future Dr. Semaj Torain as she begins this exciting chapter, her medical school registry link is in the comments. #Liveyourlife #ImaniinAction #ToGodbetheglory

My favorite daughter, @semajtorain and I had to stop by @7eleven on 7/11—it’s a tradition in the Torain family! 🥤🧡❤️💚

No matter how old my kids get, we still make time for this fun little tradition together when we can.

Happy 7/11! ✨

In spite of everything happening in the world, I’m choosing gratitude, joy, and focusing on the beauty in the moments that matter most. 🥰

Being born on St. Patrick’s Day reminds me that I’m not just lucky… I’m born blessed 🍀—covered, guided, and walking in purpose with a life filled with love and meaningful connections. 🙏🏾

This birthday was filled with so much love, good food, and great times with the people who mean everything to me. From celebrating with my work team (and those gold-flaked cheesecake cupcakes 😍✨) to #TomahawkTuesday at @flemingssteakhouse with my favorite son and my honey… my heart is full. ❤️😋🥩🎂

And I have to give a special shoutout to Jeremy and to the amazing staff at Fleming’s—your service, attention to detail, and warm hospitality always make the experience top-tier. Definitely one of my #TiffsTopShops favorites! ✨

So here’s to celebrating life, cherishing the little things, and continuing to create beautiful memories and experiences along the way. 🥂 💫

Allow me to reintroduce my legacy:
My favorite daughter is now my Sorority Sister, Semaj Victoria Imani Torain. 💕💚

South Florida born, with deep NOLA and North Carolina roots, and grounded in Midwestern values — Semaj carried all of that onto the stage as number 19 on the Sweet Mu Pi Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, Fall 2025 line.

Although I am immensely proud to welcome her into our illustrious sisterhood, joining “Sweet Mu Pi” was the perfect culmination of a phenomenal four years at Spelman College. 🩷💚⭐️
