SEMO Pole vaulter Sullivan Gleason will look to become an All-American tomorrow at the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships.

Gleason’s added nearly a foot to his vault in just the last month, surging late to win the OVC and finish top 10 in the West Regional.

Gleason competes tomorrow at 7:35PM CT (5:35 Oregon), live on ESPN+.

I never thought there would be a time in my life where I do not compete in a competitive sport. All I knew as a little girl was sports sports sports. Starting from going to watch my brothers play either football or baseball to me FINALLY being able to play a competitive sport at the age of 8. Now after finishing my last competition as a collegiate athlete about a week ago I am sitting here processing every ounce of emotion a human could possibly have it feels like.

I truly couldn’t have done this without my parents. They have been there from start to finish. I would also very confidently say that they have not missed a single track meet I’ve competed in. I love you beyond words can say mom and dad.

I first want to send a huge thank you to SEMO for opening my eyes and helping me realize that I was good enough to be a college athlete. I never would’ve thought that I was good enough to throw javelin at this level. I will forever be grateful that I started as a Redhawk.

I truly don’t have any words to express my gratitude and love towards Mizzou. All the way from my first year as a Tiger to now, through the ups and downs I have grown so much not just as an athlete but as an individual. They truly have one the most amazing coaches but also supporting staff. Jake I can’t thank you enough for actually keeping my body from falling apart. But most of all the person that deserves the most credit is Coach Halter. I have so much gratitude and can’t thank you enough for always believing in my abilities and never giving up on me when I given up on myself.

I have been so blessed for having so many great opportunities and having the best teammates throughout my years. I have gotten so lucky meeting so many amazing people.

I might’ve not end how I exactly wanted it to but I couldn’t be happier or more proud of myself, where I am now, and who I became as a person. To all the athletes out there always alwaysssss put yourself and your mental health first, believe in yourself and your abilities, and know your worth. You are your biggest cheerleader and never forget that.

and yes I’ve had an trusty elbow sleeve for most of my career…

❗️Officially an SEMO Redhawk from being a Nixa Eagle❗️

What started out as being a junior high athlete participating in basketball and cross country, I never knew how fast I’d throw all of that away for track. Not only is it something I’ll be competing with for another four years, but it has became my lifestyle, my hobby and my firing passion. With that, it has brought many great things into my life. I found my love for the gym and came across many people who had guided me to where I am now. What I hope to leave home after this season is my legacy of what hard work earns.

Thank you everyone who brought me into this journey!

Not really sure how to write this one.

At some point every athlete has their last indoor meet… and this was mine.

This year was honestly everything I worked for. I was hitting numbers I used to pray for as a freshman. Then I tore my pec. Weight throw I could still get through, but shot — which was feeling the best it ever had — wasn’t the same.

Still, I wasn’t going to sit it out.

I stepped in the ring and threw shot one last time indoors. It hurt. A lot. Finished 2nd behind a very talented thrower. I just wanted to give it everything I had left.

Indoor OVC career:

SEMO — I gave you everything I had in that ring. I’m proud of that.

But I’m not done yet.

Outdoor is still ahead. I’m fighting to get a medical hardship and finish this thing the right way in Spring 2027.
