Congratulations to 2027 RHP Coi Sommers (@sommerscoi) on his commitment to Davis & Elkins College (@senatorbsb)!

Coi is a fierce competitor coming off outstanding spring and summer seasons, highlighted by a 1.8 ERA in Perfect Game events this summer. He spins the ball exceptionally well, allowing his fastball to play up in the zone while pairing it with a plus breaking ball that consistently generates swing and miss. His changeup gives him another effective weapon, and he shows the pitchability to command his full arsenal and attack hitters. Coi has generated an impressive 63.1% whiff rate and continued to trend upward throughout his high school career, establishing himself as a highly productive arm. He also brings strong academics to the table.

Davis & Elkins is adding a talented arm with advanced pitchability and the potential to make an immediate impact on the mound. We are excited to follow Coi as he begins the next chapter of his baseball career.

Congratulations, Coi, and best of luck at Davis & Elkins!

Grateful to be part of the 2026 Davis & Elkins College Athletics Hall of Fame Induction of former Senator Baseball Players Douglas D. Crosier ‘78 and Robert Back ‘59 (not pictured.)

Back played four years of baseball from 1956-59. Beyond athletics, he was active in campus life, holding class offices and serving as vice president of his fraternity. His time at D&E was also marked not only on his time as a baseball player, but as co-captain of the 1959 basketball team that helped establish one of the strongest seasons in the program’s history during that era.

Crosier was a four-year varsity baseball player at D&E from 1974-78, competing as a pitcher and outfielder. During his sophomore season, Crosier was named team MVP and received special honorable mention as a WVIAC pitcher. He played for coach Dave Barb, who helped Crosier develop as a pitcher throughout his collegiate career.

Congratulations to our newest HOF inductees!
