I’m proud to be a SEN parent ❤️

Even though I have a neurotypical child too, I wouldn’t change the life I’ve been given.

Being a SEN mum has changed me in ways I never expected. It has taught me patience, strength, advocacy, compassion and to celebrate the little things that others might take for granted.

Would I change the challenges my child faces? Of course, if I could make life easier for him, I would.

But would I change who he is or the person I’ve become because of him? Never.

I’m proud to be a SEN mum. Proud to advocate. Proud to learn. Proud to see the world a little differently.

And if I had the choice to live this life again, I’d still choose to be his mum 🤍 #senparent #autism #neurotypical

💛 EBSA webinar for families. Now 50% off!

The start of a new school year can bring a whole mix of emotions for families experiencing Emotionally Based School Avoidance (EBSA).

You may feel isolated, judged or exhausted. You may be receiving conflicting advice, questioning whether you’re getting it right, or wondering whether to trust your gut when it comes to what your child needs.

And perhaps you’re worried about what September will bring.

You don’t have to navigate EBSA alone.

I’m really pleased to be teaming up with Rachel Helm of Helm Education Consultancy to deliver practical, compassionate webinars and workshops supporting families and schools and ultimately the children at the heart of this.

Our family-focused EBSA webinar takes place on 2 September, and tickets are currently 50% off! 🎉

We’ll explore practical ideas and strategies, including:

✨Understanding EBSA and what may be driving anxiety
✨Building connection, trust and psychological safety
✨Practical strategies families can try
✨Small steps, routines and increasing predictability
✨Working positively with school
✨What to do when parents and schools see things differently
✨Reducing blame and keeping the child at the centre
✨Building collaborative support around the child
✨Knowing when and how to seek additional support

Supporting a child with EBSA is not the responsibility of one person.
Whether you’re a parent/carer, know a family who might benefit, or you’re a professional who wants to better understand the impact EBSA can have on families, you’re very welcome.

Different perspectives. One shared goal: helping the child. 🤝

🎟️ Book your space for 2 September at 50% off while the offer is available.

Please share this post with a parent/carer who may need to hear: you are not alone. 💛

Just a kid with a dream.

A little look back at some of Calvin’s highlights from this summer.

The crazy part is… he’s only been doing BJJ for 3 months.

In that time there’s been tournaments, tough losses, big lessons, first wins, medals and a massive jump in confidence.

He’s still got loads to learn, and that’s the exciting part. But seeing how much he’s changed in such a short space of time is mad.

Three months in.

A long way to go.

But what a start.

Keep dreaming. Keep working. Keep rolling.

🎙️ POV: your podcast guest spot goes live at 7pm…

So obviously we’re celebrating with a drink 😂🥤

Today’s soundtrack:
🎩 Top Hat Overture — one of my FAVES
🎭 Hard to Be the Bard

The irony of listening to the latter while walking somewhere people know me…

WHY DOES IT FEEL SO FITTING?! 😭😂
Promise, NO ego here.

And apparently celebrating also means I’ve pushed myself into ANOTHER open class 🙌🎭

Last time my tummy said absolutely not.
This time I’m saying YES.

Because sometimes you’ve got to push yourself a little before you see the results.

Dyspraxia? 🏔️
Body confidence? 🏔️
Nerves? 🏔️

Little mountains. We climb them.

As Miley taught us… life’s a climb 😂🏔️

And I’m going to keep working for that view. ✨
