When the beautiful things happens

Era artista e a cidade me esperava.
O lago Michigan
A primavera

There is so much to say about @indigoartsalliance travel seminar #ArtInTheWake and our time together in Rio de Janeiro and Salvador Bahia. I am so incredibly grateful for this deep immersion into Afro-Brazilian cultural institutions and the meaningful time spent with artists, curators, spiritual leaders, scholars and activists and all of organizers and attendees I was fortunate enough to travel this road alongside.
Some trips change you. This one changed me. Thank you @marlismin @d1minter for your vision.

February was bitterly cold, but I felt deeply held by the warmth of my community. It’s the shortest month, yet I still found space for art, fashion, and meaningful conversations that reminded me why my work matters.

MOFAD was thrilled to welcome the Ali family for a tour of the museum. Ben Ali is featured on the Legacy Quilt, part of past MOFAD exhibition, African/American: Making the Nation’s Table.

In 1958, Ali and his wife Virginia opened Ben’s Chili Bowl in Washington, DC. An iconic stop for celebrities and politicians, the restaurant is beloved on U Street and celebrated for their half-smoke, a pork and beef sausage smothered with chili.

For the month of February, @hamburger_america will be serving Ben’s Chili Burger and portion of sales will benefit @benschilibowlfoundation 🍔
