Throwback to Olney Theater Center’s World Premiere of Senior Class. I’m so grateful to have swung on for three out of the four tracks I covered including a split track on my debut. Thanks @karlapunogarcia for your Helen Hayes nominated Choreography! I loved performing it 💛

Happy Closing to @seniorclassmusical - and this incredible band! I’ve seen a lot of incredible shows at @olneytheatre over the past 5 years, so it was a real honor to step into this one, and on my first AFM contract! And to be reunited with @dolo.duran (!) This campy quirky fun show was just what the doctor ordered after 8 months of DEH.

Also ps I don’t know why I’m making such a perturbed face in this photo LOL (probably couldn’t figure out how to pose w/ my guitar).

Happy closing to the cast of Senior Class the Musical. “School” is out and it’s now time for summer! Here are just a few of my highlights from the show. I am fortunate to have been able to see the show four times and each time my affection for this musical and cast grew and grew. One of my favorite experiences from the show is the encore performance in cap and gown during the curtain call! It brings such pure joy to the end of the show.

Ariel was one of four swings in the production and covered four roles. She was able to swing in for three out of four of those characters and her debut was a last-minute split track.

Since Ariel did not perform in the opening night show, I was able to enjoy the show on May 22nd sitting with her in the audience. I was able to become familiar with the musical and the roles that she covered.

The first time she went in for a show on June 12th, she had about 24 hours notice so I was able to travel up to Maryland. Then when she arrived for her call time, she was notified that another actress could not perform so Ariel and the other female swing split this third track. I stayed another night to see her also perform on June 13th.

A week later I traveled back up with my mom June 18th to see the one guaranteed performance we knew in advance. It was so fun to see Ariel’s variety as she played the characters who were essentially in all the same dance numbers but such different personalities.

I’m incredibly proud to be a Swing in the World Premiere of Senior Class at Olney Theatre Center. It was challenging and rewarding to swing into three out of my four tracks—including a split track on my debut! This process taught me a whole new level of discipline, flexibility, and trust as well as how to stay calm under pressure. The unpredictability of being called to go on with only hours—or even minutes—of notice was invigorating and strengthened my ability to make bold choices quickly and adapt in real-time while still honoring the integrity of the show. Most of all, being a swing deepened my appreciation for every role in a production. It’s a behind-the-scenes job that requires humility, hustle, and heart—and I’ve come out of it a stronger, more versatile performer.

I am so grateful for everyone involved - the cast, the creative team, the crew, my friends and family who came to support me. THANK YOU for making this such a great experience!

NEW REVIEW! Senior Class is currently playing a world premiere engagement at Olney Theatre Center outside Washington, DC. It has a book, lyrics, and music by Melvin Tunstall III and music and vocal arrangements by Greg Dean Borowsky, and it is an incredibly promising new musical that might, with many necessary adjustments, wind up being great. I have so much more to say about Senior Class: how the stage manager stole the show, how I could listen to GB sing forever, how there was just the right amount of silliness and cliche tropes to be a nod to theatre kids without diluting the message of the show. This is my kind of high school musical!
