Mutterschaftsurlaub 🦋

Ganz viel Liebe

Maternity Leave 🦋

Life lately is getting more quite here, embracing the transition from 2 to 3 kids.

This past last month has transformed me, suffered, bloomed and so much more on many levels which is hardly to describe in one post.

I am now gonna be off for a while and wish you a wonderful time and spring. And so grateful for 2 of my beautiful friends who did my mother blessing @soulful__ceremonies @caro__corazon

Lots of Love

My parents came to Berlin in 1996 as immigrants from Kazakhstan, with heritage that allowed them to move to Germany. They didn’t think twice, took two bags, their two children, and left, hoping for a better future.

I spent 28 years living in Berlin, and I think the city shaped me in ways I only really understand now. It’s messy, dirty, creative, contradictory, and somehow gives you a lot of space to figure out who you want to be. There are artists, musicians, philanthropists, people with a lot of money, people with very little, and pretty much everything in between.

About 5 years ago, I left Berlin for good and being back now visiting, especially while in my nodal return feels weirdly fitting. Here I am, returning to the place that shaped so much of who I became, while also realizing how much of me has changed.

I’m trying not to romanticize one place over another. The longer I live, the more it seems to me that almost every place in the world is somehow fucked in its own very particular way – very similar to humans. So I don’t want to turn this into a judgment post. I’m just noticing the things that have changed, and how different it feels to be here now.

The past years in Mexico have been challenging. There was heartbreak, financial insecurity, losing my sense of direction, starting over, and a lot of moments where I genuinely had no idea what I was doing. One thing I can say: A messy country will demand lots of letting go, lots of surrender.

But when I saw those pictures today, I smiled and thought: „Wow, I really like the person I’ve become.“ (And that hasn’t always been the case, and I still get judgmental about certain parts of my body.) But, I like how that person feels, the softness and lightness that comes from her.

And at the same time, there is something bittersweet about it. Because I know how many tears and moments of powerlessness are behind that smile. How connected it is to deeply feeling.

And yet, I’m here – approaching my 40s, still messy, but more certain than ever that this life is worth living.

Thank you to my dear friend @senseofthesun for taking those pictures and reminding me of the joy that lives inside. 🦀🧡
