Ultrahuman Ring AIR: Part 2

A few weeks in, and although I’m pretty anti-anyone or anything judging my sleep, I’ve found 3 things I’ve really started to enjoy about wearing this ring, and they may not be what you’re expecting.

After the initial strange skin reaction I mentioned in Part 1 it hasn’t happened again. I now make sure there’s no moisture trapped under the ring after showering and, no more finger protests 👍.

So now, 3 things I’ve liked:

😴 It’s made me think more about my evening routine, getting to bed earlier and keeping the bedroom cooler. Did I need a ring to tell me? No. Did I actually do it before the ring started judging me? Also no.

🏃‍♀️ I love the visual feedback when I’m running. My heart rate readings have been very similar to my other device, although I’m less convinced by the neat training zones. “Zone 2” is only precise once we’ve agreed how we’re defining and measuring it.

📳 I enjoy the statisfyying morning buzz as my data updates. And it’s encouraged me to take a late afternoon walk while their is light.

Unfortunately, the ring thinks I’m 59. WTF!!

I’m 54.

It’s not just hurt feelings that makes this interesting.

Signals, such as pulse, movement and skin temperature, can be measured. Other information can be estimated by algorithms, and then those estimates become things like sleep stages, recovery, stress and biological age.

I’m also not convinced it fully captures how much exercise I do. I’d love an outdoor functional training option that brings movement and outdoor light together.

So Part 3 is the rabbit hole:

What is measured? What is estimated? And how much is fancy pants algorithm?

The app still wants me to tag any alcohol, food, stress, period ( no chance of that one for me).

My ring knows enough to tell me my arteries are apparently 59, you’d think it could spot me eating a packet of Salt & Vinigars crisps, a beer or having an orgasm.

But it can't

And that difference between what my body does, what the ring detects and what the algorithm thinks it means is for Part 3.

Ring provided to review by Ultrahuman Opinions, arteries and the crisps, mine.

Secondo voi cos’è?

✨ An inspiring evening at the Hormone Health Exchange Networking Event ✨

I was delighted to be invited to attend the Hormone Health Exchange Networking event at the Heal's Building in London last night.

It was an insightful and inspiring evening, bringing together so many incredible professionals who are working to place Women's Health at the forefront. 💫

@drlamiazafrani delivered a powerful presentation highlighting the need for more research and specialist support for female athletes and women throughout their hormone lifespan. 🏃‍♀️

We also heard moving words from Carla Cressy OBE, founder of the Endometriosis Foundation, on the devastating impact of endometriosis and the importance of improving health outcomes for those living with this condition. 🌸

@the_health_psychologist_ shared insights from her book exploring the relationship between the mind, body, and environment and how these connections can influence chronic health challenges. 📖

It was wonderful to connect, learn, and collaborate with so many passionate people in this space. 🤍
I'm already looking forward to the autumn session! 🍂
@ultrahumanring it was fascinating to hear about your cycle tracking technology.

What’s one thing that’s become a non-negotiable part of your morning routine? 🍋☁️

I don’t know if it’s age, winter, or just where I am in life right now, but I’ve really come to appreciate a slow morning. Does that sound like I’m aging?😭

One thing I’ve enjoyed about using the Ultrahuman Ring AIR is that it gives me a better understanding of what’s actually going on behind the scenes, so I can make decisions based on more than just how I think I feel.
