Harry Houdini performed on this stage. 🎩🎭

And more than a century later, the Piedmont Grand Opera House still carries a piece of the lore surrounding his performances.

For years, the story was that there were three trapdoors in the stage.

Then the stage was replaced.

What they found underneath told a much bigger story. 👀

In Episode 10 of Echoes of the South, Bob Mavity takes us onto the Grand’s stage and shows us one of the historic trapdoors that remains in use today.

It lifted ten feet into the air.

Hovered.

Then slowly came back down.

Afterward, six men tried to move it.

They couldn’t. 👀🎭

During his 32 years at the Piedmont Grand Opera House, Bob Mavity experienced plenty he couldn’t explain. But some stories stand apart because he wasn’t the only one who witnessed them.

This was one of those stories.

Imagine being completely alone inside a historic theater after dark.

The lights are off. The building is empty.

Then you hear a piano playing. 🎹👻

During his 32 years at the Piedmont Grand Opera House, Bob Mavity spent more than a few nights alone inside the theater.

And sometimes, the Grand didn’t sound quite as empty as it should have.

If you’re from Macon, chances are you knew Big Dog. ❤️🎭

Mike “Big Dog” Seekins was one of those people whose presence was hard to miss and whose booming voice was unmistakable.

So perhaps it was inevitable that, at some point, Big Dog would decide to have a conversation with one of the Grand’s most famous residents. 👻

Bob Mavity remembers the night he did.

Tonight, we’re opening the doors to 32 years of stories from inside one of Macon’s most beloved landmarks.

THE BOY WHO WASN’T THERE 👀

Jeromy Jones once caught a glimpse of a young redheaded boy inside the Jefferson Palace Hotel in Jefferson, Texas. By the time he turned around, the boy was gone.

Years later, a woman at the hotel encountered a young redheaded boy too. She assumed he was Jeromy’s son.

He wasn’t.

So they pulled the security footage.

The Little Boy in the Photograph. 👀👻

Jeromy Jones and his daughter Makenna were inside the Disappointments Room at the Jefferson Palace Hotel, asking questions in the dark while Jeromy took photos on his phone.

It wasn’t until he began adjusting the brightness that something emerged in one of the photographs.

A little boy.

Look closely. What do you see?

The story of the Disappointments Room, how Jeromy discovered it, the history he uncovered and what happened inside is one of the most fascinating mysteries of the Jefferson Palace Hotel.

They Found Rose Between the Floors. 👀👻

It started with a water leak.

While Jeromy Jones was working on repairs at the Jefferson Palace Hotel, his daughter Makenna lowered a snake camera into the space between the floors.

Then she saw a face.

Hidden several feet inside was a doll. When they pulled it out, they discovered one word written on the back: ROSE.

Who put her there? How long had she been there? And why?

Rose is just one of the mysteries inside this notoriously haunted hotel.

Welcome to the Fright Club. 👻

At the Jefferson Palace Hotel, the number one rule of the Fright Club is simple: no refunds.

Jeromy Jones has seen plenty of guests make an unexpected early departure, but this Room 13 story may be one of the most memorable.

A scream. A terrified guest locked outside on the balcony in a towel. And the figure she says she watched disappear through a wall.

And this is only one of the stories inside this notoriously haunted hotel.

Finding the Disappointments Room. 👀

While exploring the maze of attic spaces inside the Jefferson Palace Hotel, Jeromy Jones discovered something that didn’t make sense: a hidden room with no obvious entrance.

A tiny door. A narrow passage disappearing into the wall. And one very big question:

What is going on with this room?

But finding the room is only the beginning of this story.

What Jeromy eventually captured inside this space is something you have to see for yourself.

Tonight, we’re going inside the notoriously haunted Jefferson Palace Hotel in Jefferson, Texas, where years of unexplained experiences, hidden spaces, haunted rooms and evidence caught on camera have left Jeromy with stories that are difficult to explain.

What happens when one of the most active haunted hotels you know is also your home? 👻

This week, we’re going inside the Jefferson Palace Hotel in Jefferson, Texas.

I sit down with paranormal investigator, engineer, and hotel owner Jeromy Jones for an episode packed with stories and evidence from a place where paranormal activity isn’t something you have to go looking for.

108 cameras watch the property.

Guests have left rooms in the middle of the night.

There’s a sealed basement beneath some of the hotel’s most active areas, a mysterious hidden room, an apparition caught in a photograph, a little boy who has reportedly been seen by multiple people, haunted dolls that don’t always stay put, and mysteries Jeromy still hasn’t been able to solve.

And through all of it, Jeromy, his wife Pam, and their family call the 13,000-square-foot hotel home.

There is A LOT to unpack in this episode. 👀
