A message to our clients, the public, and the global trekking community 🙏

At Hike With Sherpa, we have always believed that the mountains are not just a destination, but a place of trust, respect, and shared humanity.

In light of the recent news surrounding alleged fake helicopter rescues and misconduct in the Everest Base Camp region, we feel it is important to speak openly.

First and foremost, we are deeply disturbed by these reports.
The idea that any guide or operator would harm or mislead a client for financial gain goes against everything we stand for, as a company, as Nepalis, and as part of the Sherpa community.

We fully support the ongoing investigations.
The truth must come out.

Anyone who has exploited the system, manipulated insurance, or acted unethically must be held accountable.

At the same time, we want to be clear:

These actions do NOT represent the majority of trekking professionals in Nepal.

For generations, the Sherpa community and the Nepali trekking industry have been built on
• Kindness
• Honesty
• Hard work
• Genuine care for every guest

We will not let the actions of a few define an entire community.

Our commitment moving forward:

• Full transparency in all emergency decisions, including helicopter evacuations
• Encouraging clients to choose and fully understand their own insurance
• Educating trekkers about altitude sickness, rescue protocols, and potential scams
• Working only with partners who share our values of integrity and accountability

We believe this moment is also an opportunity to raise standards and strengthen trust.

To our clients, the public, and our industry:

We stand united in calling for truth, accountability, and meaningful action.
Let the investigation proceed fairly.
Let justice be served.

🙏
