This artwork spans 6 different surfaces, the largest at 12,520 × 4,320 pixels dozens of times beyond the resolution standard video models can handle.

The solution: instead of animating the whole canvas, crop and animate 69 individual regions within the artwork (eyes, flowers, leaves). Each one is labeled with its own intent: blink, bloom, sway.

A specific technique makes the loops seamless: the same frame is used as both the start and end point, with all motion happening in between. The result pixel-identical start and end frames, zero visible cut.

Production runs on ComfyUI, through three separate workflows (flf2v, i2v, qwen_edit) not one complex system, but small parts each doing a single job.

ARCHAEOLOGY OF RECURRENCE IS
OUT NOW VIA LIN RECORDS

Bringing together jazz improvisation, orchestral arrangements, and contemporary sound design, this work also weaves together Rutkay Aziz’s narration of a Rainer Maria Rilke poem and archival recordings of James Baldwin.

Conceived around the elemental worlds, the work explores recurring cycles of transformation, belonging, impermanence, grief, and renewal. Each composition inhabits a distinct emotional landscape while contributing to a broader narrative concerned with the processes of becoming, losing, remembering, and beginning again.

Together, these elemental landscapes form a meditation on recurrence itself—the ways in which human beings repeatedly encounter loss, growth, uncertainty, love, and change throughout their lives.

Across five interconnected compositions, Hamzaoğlu brings together jazz improvisation, hip-hop production aesthetics, orchestral writing, spoken word, and contemporary sound design. Moving fluidly between acoustic and electronic worlds, the music draws from contemporary jazz, beat culture, spiritual improvisation, and cinematic composition while remaining rooted in collective expression and narrative form.

Turkish actor Rutkay Aziz performs Rainer Maria Rilke’s poem Let This Darkness Be a Bell Tower, lending an additional philosophical and emotional dimension to the project. The EP also incorporates archival recordings of James Baldwin from Meeting the Man: James Baldwin in Paris, used with the courtesy of Jack Hazan.

Produced in Istanbul, Archaeology of Recurrence features an international ensemble including @ismlaltunbas , @ozanmusluoglu , @halilcaglarserin , Petr Shalamov (@chainotherklown ), @sarabrinknielsen, @sarpay_ozcagatay , @kaankaradavut , @owendawsonmusic , @cemre_demircioglu , Çağdaş Oruç, Barış Ertürk (@barrmusic) , Feride Zeynep Hakim (@fffeurd) , and Aren Fındık.
