BALLET BODIES YYC
June 4-7, 2027 | DJD Dance Centre, Calgary

The premiere of a collaboration with Calgary-based artists Serenella Sol and Beth Durnie, in the form of a powerfully intimate duet.
This work celebrates the exceptional depth of relationship possible between women, examining sisterhood not as biological connection but as chosen bond.

🌀

Co-created by Alexis Fletcher and Sylvain Senez, this new creation brings together seven professional dancers from both Vancouver and Calgary.
In collaboration with these artists, this research bridges together an entirely new community of performers.

What a special evening.

It’s hard to believe that In My Room began as a short stage work and grew into a film. Along the way, I had the chance to learn about filmmaking, experiment with directing and choreography in a completely new way, and create paid opportunities for an incredible group of artists. Looking back, I’m really proud of what this project became.

Sharing the film alongside Han’s live piano performance and @nixeetyde live performance made the evening even more meaningful. Seeing family, friends, students, colleagues, and members of Calgary’s dance community come together to celebrate these remarkable artists and connect with one another is something I’ll always be grateful for.

This project could never have happened alone. Thank you to everyone who believed in it, supported it, and helped bring it to life.

A very special thank you to @sierraoszust. This film truly would not exist without your talent, artistic vision, and countless hours of post-production support.

Thank you to our generous sponsors @afa.1991, @michaellipnickifinepianos, and @equilibriumosteo for helping make this evening possible. 🤍

Meet Serenella ✨

Serenella is a performer in In My Room, as well as the Director of Ballet Bodies YYC, an incredible choreographer, and someone I’ve had the privilege of working with in many different capacities.

This project wouldn’t exist without her. In My Room first began as a stage work for Ballet Bodies in Motion, where Serenella creates opportunities for choreographers to develop and share new work. Without that opportunity, this film never would have happened.

Thank you, Serenella. 🤍

Meet Sierra ✨

One of the most versatile dancers I know, Sierra has been part of In My Room from the very beginning. I’ve had the pleasure of working with her across many projects, and her technical precision, artistry, and emotional depth bring so much to this work.

Her contribution reaches beyond the screen. Alongside her performance, she also helped shape the film through post production, making this project stronger every step of the way.

Meet Graham ✨

Graham is one of the most experienced cast members of In My Room, bringing years of performance and choreographic experience to the process. I’ve had the pleasure of working closely with Graham at Alberta Ballet School and have always admired not only his artistry, but the care and generosity he brings into every space.

Beyond his talent, Graham is endlessly kind, hilarious, and someone who always knows how to make the studio laugh. His presence in the studio makes even the longest rehearsal days brighter, and I’m so excited for audiences to witness the depth and artistry he brings to the screen.

I can’t wait for you to experience his work in In My Room.

Meet Reese ✨

I’ve had the pleasure of working with Reese in many capacities since moving to Calgary, and every time I’m reminded what an incredible artist she is. Reese is versatile, full of strength and passion, and has one of the smartest dancer brains I’ve ever witnessed. Powerful, committed, and always bringing intention into the room, she brought so much power and depth to In My Room.

I’m so excited for you all to see her on screen 🤍. 🎟️ In My Room

Meet Nixee ✨

Nixee may be the youngest member of the In My Room cast… but there is something undeniably special about the way she moves through the room.
Thoughtful, curious, and full of heart, she brings a beautiful honesty to every rehearsal. The kind that can’t be taught. Quietly observant and deeply committed, Nixee has a way of making even the smallest moments feel meaningful.
I am so grateful to have this special human be part of the process. ❤️
