It is time for fall gardening in zone 8A! 🍁🥬

I had a pretty successful first year vegetable garden with lots of peppers, tomatoes, basil and I even harvested FIVE okra in October!

So I put into @chatgpt what I could grow in the fall in zone 8A and it suggested lettuce! 🥬🥬

So I added spinach, kale, several types of leafy lettuce and rainbow chard. I can’t wait to see them bloom and be able to garden into the fall and winter!

Sugar snap peas @sereniseed and snow peas are grown the same - recommended for direct sow from seed once soil and temps are cooler. To assist with sprouting, presoak the large seeds for 4 hours prior to planting. As cool season crops, they withstand a light frost down to 28F but grow best at 50-70F and need a trellis to climbz Make sure the critters don’t gobble up the peas before they have a chance to grow!

These started as tiny seeds a few months ago. The harvest wasn’t huge, but it reminded me that the best part of gardening isn’t the size of the harvest. It’s watching a tiny seed become food on your family’s table. We kept it simple: a drizzle of olive oil, salt, and pepper, then roasted them until tender. The perfect little side dish. And somehow, they tasted even better because we grew them ourselves.

Roasted Garden Carrots 🥕 
• Homegrown carrots (or any fresh carrots) • A drizzle of olive oil • Fresh rosemary sprigs • Salt & freshly cracked black pepper

Toss everything together and roast at 425°F for 20–30 minutes, until tender and caramelized.

✨ Finish with an edible flower from the garden (I used nasturtiums!) to instantly elevate the dish.
