I can’t believe it’s been a month since our anniversary production of Three Sisters. What it honor to play probably one of the most complex and complicated parts of Russian classical theater, the oldest of three sisters, Olga. What a great fortune to collaborate with the greatest theater directors of our time Mr Tcherkassky.
One can write a lot about Chekhov, this play in particular and what it represent for each generation of actors who attempt (!) to perform the parts. You see this Chekhov's restless, frozen, claustrophobic 1900 drama is all about intimacies, whether sought or not, and about the imprisonment of identities in the moment. All the dialogues and actions are tenth (not third!) degree. Everything is unspoken but just felt and ment. Whether the viewer feels desperate on behalf of the younger generation who will never make it to Moscow depends on the actors making the public intuit the suffocating immediacy of those family bonds and social obligations. Doesn’t it truly represent the genuine sense that “contemporary” means now.... #antonchekhov #threesisters #play #theater #actors #actress #friends #director #theaterdirector #stage #olga #leestrasberg #leestrasberginstitute
