With no engines and no urgency, a mokoro safari invites you to slow down and experience the Okavango Delta at nature’s pace, quietly drifting through reeds and winding channels surrounded by the sounds of the wild.

It’s one of the most peaceful and immersive ways to experience Botswana, offering a completely different perspective of the bush and allowing you to feel deeply connected to the landscape around you.

This morning on the Okavango Delta, we experienced something I genuinely don’t think I’ll ever forget.

We spotted a male lion and two lionesses on a small island, watching a huge herd of red lechwe across the water.

So we moored up nearby to watch from what we thought was a safe distance…

Then the lions decided to cross 😅

And because this is the Okavango Delta, the channels are deep and the current is STRONG.

The current was actually pushing the lions towards our boat and they ended up less than a metre away from us! 😱

Honestly? My heart was racing.

I think all of us were quietly panicking a little 😅 especially because the male seemed quite unsure in the water and I genuinely thought he might try to grab onto the boat for stability.

Meanwhile our guides were completely calm, which thankfully stopped us all from completely losing it 😂

Once they made it across safely, we followed them further down the channel and watched them begin to stalk a huge herd of red lechwe.

The level of patience, strategy and instinct was just incredible to witness up close.

The hunt itself was unsuccessful… but the experience was absolutely phenomenal.

And moments like this are exactly why Africa gets under your skin.

This is our second year in a row travelling to Southern Africa and honestly… it changes you. 😍

The wildlife, the landscapes, the rawness of it all. It forces you to slow down, be present, and realise how big the world really is.

And if I’m honest, it’s also one of the reasons I’m so passionate about what I do.

Because before this business, trips like this felt like “maybe one day” experiences.

Now? We’re already talking about where in Africa we want to explore next.

Not because we’re millionaires 😅
➡️ But because we started looking at travel differently.

And that shift has honestly changed so much for us ✨

If you’ve ever dreamed of travelling more, experiencing more, or making travel feel more possible in your life… feel free to message me the word TRAVEL 🐘✈️

[We are staying at @setaricamp and so far, it has been an incredible experience! 😍]
