Custom signet rings for @celestehanchar & @w.t.hanchar , the brilliant minds behind @2formstudio 🌀
Lovely Celeste came to me with a vision for jewellery pieces that could serve not only as a tribute to their wedding anniversary, but also double as a makers mark stamp to distinguish who has made what, an idea that I fell head over heels for. The cherry on top was the beautiful photos from a shoot done by the inimitable @sevanichkhanian to commemorate the occasion. A pure fantasy world born.
Collaborating and creating with friends is a great joy in my life and a never ending source of inspiration. Always deeply honoured to have my work as contribution towards the celebration of significant milestones.

Handmade custom signet rings by @love______letters

One of our favourite shots from the project, we didn’t have a solid plan of what the sculpture would become, and as we pressed our hands into the clay we formed a pool that the rings could sit within on top of “two small forms” we created based off of Henry Moore’s Two Large Forms, the place we were married. Near the end of the shoot we dipped and painted our hands with cobalt glaze and began to move together with Sevan capturing it all. Meet us at our spot. 🌀

This year marked our 5th wedding anniversary. To celebrate, we chose to take a tool which we have been using in one form or another since the beginning - a maker’s mark - and infuse it with an extra measure of symbolism. The rings function as signatures, tools steeped in the practice of pottery, while standing as a symbol of our love, our collaborative process, and our mutual respect for the work we share. The natural conclusion was that the finishing touch of every piece, the stamp, would become something less static and marketable, and weave a more complete narrative of our shared practice, albeit in a perhaps esoteric flourish.

Our 2F stamp will remain useful to denote the studio we have built, but the custom makers marks will provide additional context to every piece. With very few exceptions, every creation of our studio is shaped in some way by both of us. The lines of that creative process are so blurred as to be unidentifiable at times. Our hands, our minds, connected through the creative act.

Carrying through the essence of collaboration, our dear friend @love______letters with her talent and openness to a strange experimental concept made these rings by hand carving the mirrored symbol we had created, turning our rings into solid silver signet stamps.

Finally, we enlisted the art of our iconic friend @sevanichkhanian to document the concept and inspiration behind this important symbol on 35mm. Together in art and creativity what you see is a ritual, and an act of devotion to love and art, passing through layers of hands and talents to create something beyond its initial energy.

Kelty & Sevan co-produced this magazine together. They did this slowly and intentionally over the last 5 months, really soaking in the process and looking at every detail with thoughtfulness. They took inspiration from 90s fashions mags and beauty advertisements but mostly from the energy shared between each other.
