A Jon has finished the 2nd score. 9/11/26 - 40th birthday bash.

Thank you to Samu for cultivating a surprise birthday that I was ill prepared for.

Thank you to @kevinblack17 for coming down the weekend before his beautiful wedding. And, thank you to Katie Black for letting him.

Thank you to Calle for flying in from Vermont.

Thank you to Claire for driving 7hrs from Michigan.

Thank you to @pakaslade for taking time from his beautiful family and his brilliant business, @hexecoffee.

I am truly honored to have such amazing and caring friends. It's been a wild year in MKE, and I skid into 40yrs covered in cuts and bruises. But, never defeated.

Perspective Time

Give enough time and space
We can easily look at our lives
And see what worked
See what we would have done better

We might try and be nicer
Study something different

Yet, that is not possible. Nor is it what we want.
The mistakes, the pain, the things that make life difficult
Are also why we know why a sunny beach day can be so incredible. Why rest when you have worked hard feels good.

Have perspective to know that what has happened may not always be how you feel about it. That heartbreak, that tough times can form you into something better or something worse. Learn and be better.

———
“What is old is new again” I heard said to me and then later had a conversation about trying our best. And how difficult work can be and that there is always “something”. There is rising costs, new projects and the near infinite obstacles to stumble over. Yet, in that moment I found appreciation. I felt proud of where I am now and how I try to move forward learning from years of stumbling to try my best. I still might not have the best answers. But I know they are better than what they were.

“And then the archatron came forward with his sword and raised it in his two hands above him and clove the traveler’s head from his body […] a terrible darkness looming”
—Cormac McCarthy, Cities of the Plains

All of the songs from our "Archatron" album deal with an iteration of the Archatron in some form. In "Ereshkigal | Cauldron of Becoming" the Archatron takes several forms, literal and non, as we recount the shockingly metal & tragically under-sung story of the Sumerian Goddess of the Underworld: Ereshkigal.

Metal & Mythology fans are probably more familiar with her husband, Nergal, with any knowledge or awareness of Ereshkigal relegated to the diminutive role as "Nergal's wife." It's okay, I was unaware, too, until I started digging, and boyyyyy am I glad I did as her story is a pure, metal goldmine.

Ereshkigal (Sumerian Queen of the Underworld) lures her sister, Inanna (Queen of the Heavens and Earth), into the underworld (Kur). With an elaborate ruse, she convinces Inanna to pass through 7 gates as she ventures downwards, shedding an article of clothing (and her powers) with each gate and garment. By the time she passes through the 7th gate, she is naked and powerless. Ereshkigal then kills her by impaling her on a hook and hanging her for the other demons to witness. See, Metal af, right?!

Then begins my Ereshkigal fan fiction, as, naturally, Ereshkigal takes Inanna's lifeless corpse and uses it as the prima materia for the Alkahest: the Great Works of Alchemy.

You know what else is glittering gold and crafted via the mystic methodology of Alchemy? Beer!!

The parallels were too strong and the access to the phenomenal brewers at @oldirvingbrewing too tantalizing to ignore, and so we crafted our own Great Works—and by "we" I very much mean the brewers: The Archatron IPA!

To celebrate the beer/album/song, we're releasing a video of the live premier of “Ereshkigal” from our album release show at Reggies on 2/20/26, with @stavros_presents (Motherless/Atlas Moth) reprising his guest vocal duties.

Thank you for coming to my TED Talk.

Hirter 1270 has officially arrived — and the first kegs are now being tapped in and around Chicago. 🇦🇹🍺

Shoutout to Laschet’s Inn for pouring the very first keg! 👏

The response so far has been incredible. Guests are loving the smooth, elegant malt character, beautiful amber color, and exceptionally clean finish of this award-winning Austrian Vienna Lager.

Named after the year Hirter Brewery can first trace its history, Hirter 1270 represents 755 years of brewing tradition — and it shows in every pour.

This is a limited draft offering from Hirter Brewery and availability is extremely limited.

Restaurants and bars: ask your Louis Glunz salesman about securing a keg today before they’re gone.

Awarded. Authentic. Spectacular. 🍻

What more needs to be said that this Spielberg-level cinema didn't already relay? It's Bandcamp Friday, which means artists get a bigger cut of their own merch and digital sales. So, if you've been thinking of picking up something from us, head on over--and maybe grab something from your other favorite band(s) as well.
