Why is it important to keep your fins on in the water when diving with sharks?

Sharks have monochromatic vision, which means that they see in shades and so things that are white or yellow are high contrast in their world.

The bottoms of our feet are quite bright in the ocean blue, and can be a bit eyecatching. We want to keep our fins on because if a shark wants to come bump its nose on something to check it out, it will be on plastic.

When diving with sharks, we want to put our fins on and then get in the water. When we are done diving, we want to get out of the water before taking our fins off.

Learn more about sharks and their behavior by reading @OceanRamsey’s What You Should Know About Sharks. Help spread awareness about why sharks are important to the ocean and follow @oneoceanconservation.
