@scottsingerusa @audrey4pompano @sflinnovation Broward Blueprint: Is Scott Singer the Infrastructure Mindset Broward Needs?

On the most recent episode of the Broward Blueprint Podcast, Scott Singer joined Audrey Fesik and me by Zoom while we were in the Broward Blueprint studio at Nova Southeastern University.

With king tides, heavy rain and flooding putting renewed pressure on South Florida’s infrastructure, our conversation with Scott about his record as mayor of Boca Raton was especially timely.

Singer became mayor in 2018, and that same year he worked directly with the Lake Worth Drainage District on rehabilitation of Boca’s L-48, L-49 and L-50 canals. The work included dredging, addressing shoaling and other canal improvements.

Boca’s infrastructure program subsequently expanded. The city’s Infrastructure and Sustainability Improvement Program includes major stormwater drainage improvements along with water, sewer, road and sidewalk upgrades.

That history is worth looking at as Broward faces its own growing infrastructure challenges.

During our interview, Audrey asked Scott specifically about a Pompano Beach infrastructure project, and Scott committed to helping make sure the project receives attention at the federal level.

Scott is running as the Republican candidate for Florida’s 25th Congressional District, which includes portions of Broward, Palm Beach and Miami-Dade counties.

At Broward Blueprint, we believe voters should look beyond campaign slogans and examine actual records.

Scott’s record in Boca includes infrastructure investment, economic development and repeated property-tax reductions, according to his campaign and local records.

Watch our conversation with Scott Singer and Audrey Fesik and hear what he says he would bring to Congress — particularly when it comes to infrastructure, small business and South Florida’s future.

Founders, if angel funding is on your roadmap, this event is for you 👀

On Tuesday, August 11, The Source Co-Founder Hilmon Sorey takes the stage at Fort Lauderdale Tech Meetup for a candid conversation about the road to angel funding.

Alongside Ron Tarro of New World Angels and Fritz Spencer of EisnerAmper, the panel will unpack what early-stage investors are actually looking for, how founders can build trust before fundraising, and what turns a strong pitch into a real partnership.

For founders getting ready to raise, this is a chance to hear directly from the people making and advising on early-stage investment decisions.

📍 Alan B. Levan | NSU Broward Center of Innovation, Davie⏰ 6:00–9:00 PM🎟 Tickets available through the link in bio.

Spent the evening at the Ft. Lauderdale Tech Meetup at Nova Southeastern’s Center for Innovation, listening to Solon Angel, founder of Remitian, talk business and walked away with more than I expected.

A few lines that stuck with me:

1. Business is about being pragmatic

2. Giving money is the cheap way to do charity — if you have capital and knowledge, use it to create jobs

3. Be careful with PII

4. If everything is digitized, what’s left for humans is trust

5. The “Miami effect” humbles you — there’s always someone with bigger, better, more

6. Don’t buy the bs

7. Stay away from mediocrity — be in the 1% who does things differently

8. Be stupid. Don’t overthink.

9. Don’t be the monkey who won’t touch the bananas (look it up, you’ll love it)
