Life throws curveballs sometimes. Today our coach @jmoreno_0820 had a flat tire and had to cancel classes. I didn’t know until I showed up, but most of the 6 a.m. crew was already there, so I was asked to lead. It’s been a while since I’ve led group coaching, but it felt like riding a bike. I really appreciate the opportunity.

Huge shout-out to @vee.fitmom for writing a great workout and @jay_r_fit for the support to lead. It was designed as partner work, but since the 6 a.m. class was small, we did everything monostructurally. 12 minutes.

If you look at the training in the next photo, the cool thing about this workout is the pacing: easy, recover, hard, recover, hard. Looking at heart rate zones, it would go up, down, up, down, then hit a big valley for rest times. We did that 4 times, which is amazing stuff.

What I love about programming like this is that what we lack in complexity, we make up for in intensity. You don’t need something complex: 4 machines, 4 movements, keep it basic.

A lot of great work today. Thanks again, all!

P.S. After years of gaining certifications, clinical Board license, CEUs… it might be time to add in the Hyrox L1 through 2… what you think?

THIS CHAPTER IS PERSONAL.

I’M HUNGRY FOR MORE.
MORE GROWTH.
MORE DISCIPLINE.
MORE LIFE.

NOT BECAUSE I HAVE SOMETHING TO PROVE TO THE WORLD.

BUT BECAUSE I OWE IT TO MYSELF
TO SEE HOW FAR I CAN GO.

New wall ball finisher 🔥🔥

Saw @hunterauch share this and with the Haunted Gauntlet going on we had to try 😈

I made it 10 rounds (24 reps) and failed round 11 with 20 out of 25 reps.

But 215 wall balls in 11 minutes after a 5000m row isn’t too shabby 😏

How far do you think you’d get? 😤

Try it out and let me know!

Lately, I’ve been putting in so much work to get ready for my solo race, and workouts like this remind me just how much goes into preparing for HYROX. There are days when training feels good, and there are days when you have to fight through every rep and keep showing up even when im tired.
I know I still have so much to work on, but I’m proud of how far I’ve come and how much I’m willing to push myself to get better. Every session has a purpose, and I’m giving this prep everything I’ve got. Anaheim, I’m coming for you💪

Back to back but this time headed south!
NSTT//LA.SD.26’

All the team preparatory training, planning, and sacrifices to be better than last year is done. We will make our way from Santa Monica Pier to San Diego leaving nothing but our best on that 120mi pavement journey!

This year is very different and the team faced many obstacles. Obstacles that will test us in many ways but not one of my teammates back off from any given challenge🪖

Shout out to family, friends, and communities who supported my team through donations, motivation, and love. I carry everyone in my thoughts when I’m going through difficult moments in my journey. Believe me when I tell you that it fuels me. Ephraim this one is for you, the brotherhood in ELEV8 will always in your corner.

May God keep all my teammates safe and free of injury. May this experience just be another highlight of this beautiful life.

Thank you all the brands sponsored this run!

I truly look up to experts who can distill information and make it super digestible and easy to implement.

Here’s a little post of gratitude for @christopher_anthony at @sfvhpc who emphasized components of Zone 2 in today’s training, which is going to translate well into performance.

The nuance with Zone 2 is that a lot of studies comes from sports science, where athletes train 20+ hours per week and follow the 80/20 principle. In training, that can get a little mistaken in how it’s approached, but the principles are still there. You want to spend a good amount of time in Zone 2 to build a bigger foundation, and then mix in peaks and valleys, meaning higher intensities and interval training, to drive adaptations toward whatever your goal is. Today’s training really showcased that.

VO2 is interesting because you’re utilizing oxygen all the time. When you bring your VO2 max higher, activities that used to sit on the harder end of the rung can be done with less intensity. It just feels easier. That’s why it matters.

Hopefully this little post has some analogies to help digest this topic better. If you want deeper dives, check out the episodes I mentioned on @themacropod .

NOV 7: ATHX LOS ANGELES 🎟️🔥
Earned, not given. 🦍📈

Excited to announce that I’ll be competing at LA ATHX on November 7th before taking on Hyrox this December! Using this run to push the boundary across raw power, aerobic capacity, and high-intensity resilience. ⚡️⚡️

Shoutout to the crew for keeping the NRG sky-high during these prep sessions. Time to put the work to work. 🥳

10,000 strong. 🖤🌎

What started as a pair of shades has grown into a family, and we couldn’t have done it without you.

To everyone who’s rocked ShadyVEU, pulled up to our events and pop-ups, tagged us in your adventures, and sent us photos of our shades out in the wild — THANK YOU. You’re the reason we do this.

From Japan to the Bahamas, Europe to Puerto Rico, Indonesia and everywhere in between, you’ve taken ShadyVEU around the world and made it part of your story. Every photo, every tag, every conversation, every person who’s supported us along the way means more than you know.

10K is just the beginning. We’re proud of the community we’re building, grateful for everyone who’s been here since day one, and excited for everyone just joining the family.

Here’s to the next 10,000 and everywhere we’ll go together. 🖤

Exceptionally Shady. Always.
