The Stillwater Collective’s salmagundi may have begun earlier than we thought.

In the New Jersey Herald of May 16, 1918, an announcement invited the community to the Stillwater Presbyterian Church for a series of entertainments: Foster’s Village Choir, a humorist sharing songs and stories, and an evening of monologues, parodies, character songs, and impersonations.

A choir. A humorist. Story, music, laughter, and a little delightful unpredictability—all gathered under one roof.

The additional clippings tell an even longer story. Across generations, this building has appeared in the local record as a place of worship, a gathering place, a setting for community events, and a landmark in Stillwater’s shared history. The particulars have changed; the instinct to gather has not.

So perhaps the salmagundi we call the Stillwater Collective is not entirely new. Perhaps we are carrying forward a long local tradition of making room for curiosity, creativity, fellowship, and the unexpected.

Which brings us to Thursday, October 2: join us for our Bigfoot event. A village choir and a humorist were apparently right at home here in 1918, so an evening devoted to one of the great mysteries of the woods feels perfectly in keeping.

From a collection of New Jersey Herald clippings spanning 1906–2020, including the May 16, 1918 announcement.

Here are some scenes from Invasion of Camp Cryptid in Beacon, New York! It was an awesome experience and a great way to spend the day and evening surrounded by fellow cryptid enthusiasts.

The event brought together people who share a passion for legendary creatures through art, crafts, live music, vendors, and informative exhibits. It was a fun atmosphere with something for everyone.

One of my favorite parts was seeing a performer walking around on stilts dressed as iconic cryptids like the Jersey Devil and the Fresno Nightcrawler—it definitely added to the experience!

I also had the opportunity to meet a Bigfoot enthusiast who travels throughout the East Coast researching sightings and collecting footprint casts. We had a great conversation, and I’m hoping to have him join the Say What Again Billy? Podcast in the near future to share his experiences.

Overall, it was a fantastic event, and I’m already looking forward to attending future Camp Cryptid gatherings!

Darkness Radio Presents: In The Shadow Of Big Red Eye: Searching for Sasquatch w/Mike Familant

LISTEN/WATCH HERE—> https://www.darknessradioshow.com

Mike Familant is a 36-year-old EMT, firefighter, and graphic designer who has transitioned into a full-time Bigfoot researcher, producer, and lead investigator from NorthWest New Jersey. He first got into bigfooting in 2011 on an expedition in North Florida, where he and a friend experienced rocks being thrown at them while sitting around a campfire. Since then, he has made it his personal goal to find out exactly what is roaming the woods of America.
In 2016, after becoming frustrated with the lack of true research expedition shows on TV, he created his own show, called “In the Shadow of Big Red Eye .” The show is currently filming its 10th season.
In 2018, Mike also created a docuseries called “Squatchables,” which was created for people who are just getting into bigfooting, sort of a “Bigfooting 101.”

On today’s Darkness Radio, we sit down with Mike to talk about his YouTube Channel, programming, his investigative style, and places he has looked for Bigfoot! We also address some of the new techniques that Mike brings to the field that you won’t hear on Television or documentaries. We will also talk to Mike about how he has managed to combine his love of history and nature into his programming to give his audience a more well-rounded program!
