October 16th. Faultline Festival. Highly Suspect. 🖤

There are bands you listen to… and then there are bands whose music somehow finds the parts of you that you don’t always know how to explain.

@highlysuspect has always been that band for me. Their words, their darkness, their honesty—the beautiful mess in between. So much of their music feels like it was pulled straight out of places I’ve been, things I’ve felt, and chapters I’ve lived.

And now, after waiting two damn years, I finally get to stand there and hear it all live.

I honestly couldn’t be happier.

Two years was long enough.
See you at Faultline. 🖤🔥

Story time.

A few years ago I got a last minute call to go out with @highlysuspect for a short run of shows. Toronto, New York, Boston.

First time on a tour bus. First time meeting any of the guys. First time being dropped into something at that level and being expected to just figure it out.

I remember being nervous as hell.

Not because I didn’t think I could take a photo, but because it felt like I was finally getting a taste of what I had been working toward.

I wanted it bad.

And because I wanted it so bad, I got completely in my own head.

I was there as a hired gun. I didn’t really know the rhythm of touring yet. I didn’t know when to have the camera out, when to put it down, what moments mattered, or really what was expected of me beyond “make something good.”

The pressure I put on myself was probably worse than anything anyone else could have put on me.

Looking back, there are photos from that run that I really like.

But I’ll also be the first person to say I don’t think I delivered the way I was capable of delivering.

That’s the part of this story that matters to me.

It humbled me.

I had spent so much time wanting an opportunity like that, and then suddenly I was sitting on the bus living it. Turns out getting the opportunity and being ready for the opportunity are two completely different things.

But sometimes you don’t know if you’re ready until you go.

So I went.

I took the leap with basically no idea what I was walking into, tried my best, made mistakes, came home and learned from every bit of it.

And I’d do it again.

These photos aren’t just photos of a band to me anymore. They’re a timestamp of where I was as a photographer and as a person.

I can look at them now and see what I would do differently.

I can also see how much I’ve grown since.

That’s probably why I wanted to share them again.

Not everything you put out has to be a victory lap.

Sometimes it’s worth showing the part where you were still figuring it out.

A couple things-
* 1. Before you freak out, no this is not a highly song so relax.
* 2. I just got accepted as an official KICK PARTNER which is a really big deal for me. It might be nerdy to you, but i’ve been streaming on twitch for 6 years and they never gave a damn so this is really cool for me. There are only a few thousand of us in the world and 99% of them are strictly gamers and looksmaxxers.. I might be one of the only people on this planet that’s in a rock band, live streaming the creative process in real time, as an actual verified Kick PARTNER. I be on there all the time doing a variety of things, I just started my channel, you aren’t late. I’d love it if you came by and hung out with me on my quest. The link is in my bio. Mark hates my double claps.

Some songs are just good songs, and some attach themselves to a part of your life. “Fly” has always been one of those songs for me. There’s a lot in this one that hits close to home, so finally getting to experience it like this and then turn that moment into something of my own was pretty damn special. 🖤

And this entire night deserved it. 🎥

Highly Suspect absolutely took over @ozarkmusichall. The room felt alive from the second they stepped out. Loud, gritty, emotional, chaotic in all the right ways and a crowd that was completely locked in with them. ⛓️

There were so many moments from this show where I remember putting the camera down for a second and just thinking “yeah… this is why I do this.” 🫶🏽

Getting to capture @highlysuspect in Arkansas was one I had been looking forward to for a long time, and somehow the night still exceeded what I had built up in my head.

This is only the beginning of what I pulled from this one. 🖤🌹

SO much more from this night coming so make sure to like and follow if you want more edits from this show.

Also, thank you for 5,500 followers. 🖤 We just hit 5K a couple weeks ago, so seeing this page keep growing this fast is honestly so special to me. Every follow, comment, share, and person who keeps showing up here is seen. You are all appreciated more than you know. 📢❤️
