POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Miss Understood '26 is a "pageant" that acknowledges a few of the emotions and characteristics, typically those of Black women, that are so frequently taken out of context text and, ultimately, misunderstood. Intentionally overlooked and gaslit as if Black women are only capable of negative characteristics. This shoot highlights some of those characteristics, negative and positive. Its a reflection and a reminder for women to feel their feelings in their entirety and work through them. You are not alone. Embrace these mentalities that the world has reconstructed and tried to use to beat you down. This shoot is about feeling your feelings, being seen by your sisters, and overcoming. There are three components. The first piece is introductory photos of our beauty queens and an individual break down of what they are personifying. The second piece is an individual performance by each beauty queen, featuring coinciding music, all by Black women, to help you better understand the roots of these characteristics. The final component is a group performance rooted in unity and resilience. Enjoy these beautiful representations and mirrors of my heart. Thank you to my beautiful girls, my photographer, and my assistant. Happy Women's History Month.
