Sunday recommendations: Books with short chapters

⚠ Please check the trigger warnings if you have any triggers, before reading these books ⚠

Another Sunday, another recommendation post. This time I was tagged in the chapters challenge (thanks @mel.on.books and @myselfsid.s voor tagging me 🤍). I prefer short chapters over long chapters and that's why I thought I'd recommend some books with short chapters.

Chapters challenge:

📖 Short or long chapters?
Short!

📖 Stop in the middle or at the end of a chapter?
I prefer stopping at the end of a chapter, but if chapters are long I sometimes stop in the middle.

📖 Do you check chapter length?
Yes, always!

📖 Bookmark, jacket or dog-ear?
Bookmark! But if I don't have one I don't really mind dog earing. (Please don't cancel me!! 😭)

📖 Latest you've ever stayed up reading?
I don't know, but a few days ago I stayed up till 1am to finish Yours truly by Abby Jimenez

📖 Has 'one more chapter' turned to finishing a book?
Yes, many times! Especially with thrillers

Books with short chapters:
🤍 Acts of desperation by Megan Nolan (5⭐️)
🤍 A flicker in the dark by Stacy Willingham (4⭐️)
🤍 Sunset by Jessie Cave (4.5⭐️)
🤍 The color purple by Alice Walker (4⭐️)
🤍 Anxious people by Fredrik Backman (3.5⭐️)
🤍 Nightshift by Kiare Ladner (4⭐️)
🤍 Almond by Won Pyung Sohn, translated by Sandy Joosun Lee (4.5⭐️)

I've tagged a few people to do the chapters challenge, but please don't feel pressured. 🤍

🤍 Books I wish I saw on bookstagram more 🤍

(Some of these slides may contain triggers, especially slide 9)

Thank you so much for tagging me @lit_laugh_luv 🤍

I don't see these books on booksta often, but I do think they deserve more hype! Some of them are well known (like The kite runner, The color purple and The handmaid's tale), but eventhough they're well known I almost never see them on here. Others (like Happy as Larry), I don't think I ever saw on here.

I included some first pages, dedications or quotes from all of these books

Slide 2: And every morning the way home gets longer and longer by Fredrik Backman, translated by Alice Menzies (5⭐️)
Slide 3: Happy as Larry by Kaethe Cherney (4.5⭐️)*
Slide 4: The handmaid's tale by Margaret Atwood (5⭐️)
Slide 5: The housekeeper and the professor by Yoko Ogawa, translated by Stephen Snyder (4.5⭐️)
Slide 6: The kite runner by Kaled Hosseini (5⭐️)
Slide 7: Magma by Thora Hjörleifsdóttir, translated by Meg Matich (5⭐️)
Slide 8: The poet by Louisa Reid (5⭐️)
Slide 9: Not that bad by Roxane Gay (4⭐️)
Slide 10: The color purple by Alice Walker (4⭐️)

I tagged some friends to do this too, because I'd love to see some books that deserve more hype.

QOTD: Have you read any of these?

🍂 The epitome of Autumn 🍂

I did this tag last year and I thought it would be fun to do again this year. My recommendations have changed a lot. Here are some autumn books, TV shows, movies, music and essentials that I love.

I tagged a few friends, because I'm very curious to see their answers 🧡

QOTD: Do we have anything in common?
