If containing multitudes was a person it would be my cousin Shane. He’s been involved with theater, helped create some of your favorite video games, and now can say he is an official Jesuit Priest™️, which is no easy feat (see: his four Master’s degrees and ten years of service, including in Lebanon, Iraq, Jordan and Syria). Some might say I could tell Shane was up to some good when he used advance 1992 technology to print me a birthday sign (in color) and soon thereafter donated his prized Teddy Ruxbin to me.

My dad, Brian, and I had the honor of attending is ordination in Sacramento a few weeks ago. I got to see other cousins who live around the country/world and make some new friends, too. You will see in this montage a photo from the 1995 Stone Pony Filter concert Shane’s big bro Brian played that I was not allowed to attend because I was ~six~ 🙄 but my older sisters got to go lol.

Shane is the coolest and I emphatically state this because he will insist that this is not the case and I reject that. Shout out to him for finding ways to serve humanity in some of its darkest hours and for making my dad the proudest uncle there is!!!!

Year of the Horse? 🐴 More like Q1 of the Surgeries. 🏥🧑‍🦯

As two freelance artists, it’s challenging to find work let alone enough health insurance weeks. Let alone find the time for surgery when our work equates using our bodies! Somehow Klea and I both managed to squeeze 2 massive surgeries within 6 weeks from each other; each on our respective AEA health insurance THAT PAID FOR ALL OF IT. LAWD do we feel like we made miracles happen. 🙏🧡

I didn’t have FOMO during my hysterectomy recovery because it was marked by an epic snowstorm and deep freeze, though our furnace malfunctioning for several weeks was not cute. 😵‍💫I couldn’t lift more than 5 lbs in each arm and when I was cleared to, it was just in time for me to play caretaker to Klea’s recovery. ❄️

When I grabbed Klea’s backpack as I wheeled her out of her outpatient hip replacment surgery, I gasped: “this is the most weight I’ve lifted in 6 weeks!” 🎒 🏋️

This time will forever be marked by such loving visitors, calls, texts, gift cards, food, blankets, snax!, living room karaoke, the wild party nightly updates from our houseguest, and finally a new normal. Back to traveling. Back to life. But now with no pain! Thank you all. And thank you Dr. Julia Keltz! 👩‍⚕️👏

Tons of you have reached out to tell me that my endo advocacy is helping you, which only motivates to yap more. Keep advocating for yourselves! Endometriosis affects 1 in 10 reproductive-aged women globally. There is no cure. There’s no way to definitively know if you have endo unless you have surgery — mine confirmed it. After years of being told I just had a low tolerance for pain, I’m finally vindicated! ✔️

48hrs between klea’s surgery and the end of my post-op meant a Day Trip to stargaze on @starstruckmusical 💫💫💫💫

You probably know that @indigogirlsmusic were formative to my coming of age (swipe to the end to see when I first road tripped with my bestie @shanbracken for them 🥹) & that they are gay pioneers that paved the way for musicians like @brandicarlile and now @emilysaliers of IG has written a musical with our friend @thebethmalone which she also stars in?! We are so proud and in awe of the 🌟 that is icon Beth Malone! And as someone who stands on Beth’s shoulders, it’s so thrilling to see this queer retelling of Cyrano added to the queer canon.

Thank you to @kevinmryan for shepherding it with lez royalty @tig_notaro1 @glennondoyle @abbywambach !
🩷🧡💛

Get over to @theaterbcp before it’s too late!

hi friends! trying to get better at promoting my things.

a show i directed- 12 angry jurors with BTG- was nomainted for 4 broadway world awards.

I was specifically nomainted for “best direction of a play”

we were also nominated for best play, (1st category up to vote for!) best ensemble in a play, and best choreography of a play/musical (plz vote my other beautiful talented friends for this category <3) and i’d appreciate you taking the minute to vote for us. im super lucky and thankful to my actors, as well as The Beverly Theatre Guild Chicago for the opportunity to direct this show! it was super important to tell a story like this through a contemporary len, in a city where ICE is terrorizing our neighorhoods everyday.
