POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Reflecting on my experience facilitating the "Color Your Story" Art Workshop at @goodyeararts yesterday!

Huge Thank you to @shanemanier of @guerilla_poets for trusting me to hold space for our community to come out and create for free.

These workshops are funded by @asccharlotte Culture Blocks Grant 🙌🏽

Our guests were invited to tell their stories using
Color, Line and Shape theory.

Everyone brought great energy and created beautiful works of Art 🎨 Thank you to my family and friends for coming out and supporting me!

I'm excited to facilitate more workshops in the future 🙌🏽

Here's a little recap of opening night of "Divine Masculine", my first group art show I've ever curated, with the help of my friend @molocinus !

Opening night was amazing, we had the pleasure of listening to spoken word performances from @beardrian and @shanemanier , some of the most extremely talented local poets and activists in our community! We featured works from 40 different Charlotte artists, from paintings to sculptures to fashion to video installations to interactive fish-ripping experiences!

I am so honored to have had our show proposal selected by @goodyeararts for this opportunity, and I'm so pleased with how the show turned out.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart to everyone who attended our show, it means so much to me. Thank you to the incredible artists in this show for pouring your hearts into this project. Thank you to my amazing friend @meganhillartistry for being the most supportive, sweet friend and capturing all this wonderful footage of the event for me! I also want to extend a HUGE thank you to our friends who helped us hang everything along with all the other physical labor, Abe, Erin Frae, @matthewscotthoneycutt , and @whats_vtec 💚 I am so grateful for all of you and for all the help we've received throughout this process and all the kind words we've received at the opening! Thank you!!!

Check out the show through 10/31 @goodyeararts Fridays 6-9pm and Saturdays 1-4pm!

Why Does Spoken Word Make You Lean In And Listen?! 🎤🔥

Shane Mainer explains how inflection, tone, and the energy between a performer and audience create something you can’t get from the page. With spoken word, the moment happens once, giving the audience a reason to stay present and pay attention.

Some experiences stay with us long after we have found the words for them.

My new poetry book, RIPPLES, explores the echoes of youthful trauma and the uneven, deeply individual work of healing. 💜✨️💜

These poems do not offer a perfect ending. But. I hope they offer a moment to pause, feel, and know you are not alone. 💜📚💜

What is one word that describes your healing journey?

Next week it's going down! Our Annual Fundraiser is back - this time in combo with our open mic! Starts at 7pm on Sept 24th at Wired Coffee Espress.

Be in the building to see the live paint off go down, hit the stage, and sit back and enjoy the show!

All in support of our arts programs. Donation at the door, pay what you can.

Every dollar counts - we pride ourselves in having a 77% efficiency rate. Most nonprofits serve 1-2 people per every $1,000 raised, NOT US! We serve 33 per every thousand raised.

Your donation matters. The work matters. ❤️ If you can't be in the building on Sept 24th, you can donate via link in our bio!

When Words Become Survival: Poetry, Trauma & the Power to Heal

What happens when the words we struggle to say become the very thing that helps us survive?

In this powerful episode of Unmuted with Z & Ross Da Boss, we sit down with @shanemanier for a deeply honest conversation about poetry, trauma, healing, and finding your voice through the experiences that shape us.

Shane shares how poetry became more than an art form. It became a way to process pain, make sense of difficult experiences, and turn emotions that were once difficult to express into something powerful and meaningful.

Together, we explore the connection between creativity and healing, the courage it takes to confront our stories, and what can happen when we stop silencing the parts of ourselves that are asking to be heard.

This conversation is raw, reflective, and deeply human. Because sometimes healing doesn’t begin with having the right words. Sometimes it begins with simply giving yourself permission to speak.

🎙️ This is Unmuted. Real conversations. Real stories. No filters. No silencing.

WE’RE BACK! 🎙️🖤

After taking a little time to pause and reset, Unmuted with Z & Ross Da Boss is back tomorrow with a very special guest and a conversation you do not want to miss.

This week, we’re sitting down with spoken-word poet, artist, trauma-informed care instructor, and founder of Guerilla Poets, @shanemanier .

We’re talking about the power of words, trauma, healing, survival, community, and what happens when we finally give ourselves permission to tell our stories out loud.

Some conversations entertain you.

Others make you stop, reflect, and feel.

This is one of those conversations.

And trust us... we’re coming back UNMUTED. 🎤

🎙️ New episode drops TOMORROW!

Make sure you’re subscribed and ready because you don’t want to miss this one.
