What does Ipsilateral mean? | Exercise of the Week

Same arm, same leg in front.

This is probably one of the most common questions I get whenever someone sees this word in their new program.
I really like this row variation because it connects the lower and upper body. You’re working through the front heel to create a strong connection to the ground, then tying that into the upper body pull.

Coaching Notes:
Set the cable at belly button height.
Set up with the rowing-arm side leg in front.
Row the cable in a controlled manner.
Allow the opposite leg to externally rotate at the hip, then return to a neutral, athletic stance.
Focus on staying connected through the front heel as you pull. #beldingperformance #exerciseoftheweek

Sunday Spotlight Powered by @luxstonegroupny : It’s been a remarkable two years for Shane Meehan who led the Golden Flashes to the Class A Long Island Championship in 2025, committed to Stony Brook and capped his career by winning the coveted Carl Yastrzemski Award. He batted .486 with a .557 OBP and threw out 40% of base runners. He caught every inning for the last two years. His head coach, Joe Esposito, called him a “coaches dream,” and added “Shane is as deserving as any other player this year. He was our leader in every aspect of the word. He plays with confidence and has great respect for the game. He is also an AP scholar which just shows you the type of student athlete he really is. He is involved in numerous clubs and academic organizations throughout the school community. He is a special kid with a bright future on and off the field. Tremendous character and true role model for the younger guys coming up in the program. We are really going to miss him but will enjoy following his collegiate career at Stony Brook University.” Full story coming later ⚾️

Everyone who knows Shane knows that as great a player as he is on the field, he’s an even better person off the field. Congratulations, Shane. I’m excited to watch you succeed in this next chapter of your baseball career in college.
