When Louis Vuitton meets Akrivia, time doesn’t just fly… it travels first class. ⌚️🧳

Some collaborations are about putting two names on a dial. Others are about putting two worlds on the same wavelength.

Enter @louisvuitton x @akrivia — where Parisian luxury meets Swiss watchmaking obsession.

Limited to just 10 pieces, this isn’t your typical luxury collaboration. It’s a mechanical love affair, where every gear has a purpose, every detail has a story, and every second is dressed for the occasion.

The skeletonized dial leaves very little to the imagination, and frankly, that’s exactly how I like my horology. 😏

Ten pieces. Two creative worlds. One extraordinary expression of time.

And while Louis Vuitton is known for making things you want to carry, Akrivia makes something you never want to take off.

Now that’s what I call traveling in style. 🕰️🔥

Thank you again @shani.watch for stopping by and making my wrist blush ☺️

Today, August 19, marks 100 years since Dr. George Daniels CBE was born.

I’m probably not quite qualified enough to write this. But I wore this watch again today and felt like I had a few things to say.

I have been fortunate enough to acquire more than a few watches, but almost all remained just that: watches. The George Daniels Millennium is somehow different.

Daniels made only around two dozen pocket watches and two unique wristwatches by his own hand—both now with an incredibly lucky collector I envy and respect. The Millennium, of course, was made in collaboration with Roger W. Smith, with lots of stories.

Sometimes I worry I had watch collecting wrong all along. Maybe it is not really about watches, or how many I acquire.

Of course I still chase that sensation of finding a watch I love or holding one I have never seen. But does it matter? This George Daniels is a constant reminder of something different.

Before acquiring it, I asked my humble, amazingly talented friend @logan_kuan_rao for his opinion. In his own way, he works as Daniels did: one man, one workshop. The watch also introduced me to a former owner, and to one of Lord Sandberg’s sons. Lord Sandberg, the original owner of my watch, was a legendary figure both in Hong Kong history and in watch collecting history.

It led me to Roger W. Smith OBE @rogerwsmithltd I will always remember our conversations and taking shelter in a hotel lounge during that terrible typhoon. Horological history was right in front of me.

I also got to meet Mike Shani @shani.watch , a wonderful collector of independents and a super nice man.

Somehow, all these people and moments add up. I guess THIS is what I care about in this small hobby of mine.

Long before acquiring it, I read George Daniels’ autobiography, “All in Good Time,” then tried to read and watch everything else I could find. He was far more than the title “watchmaker” suggests, if I can say that. The man did everything so well. Fixing vintage Alfa Romeo? Racing Bentley? Eveything.

What he achieved despite his hostile childhood, from the ashes of post-war London, is mind-boggling to me. He still inspires me, though I never had the chance to meet him.
