feeling so alive & so incredibly grateful for all of the experiences the past 2 weeks, the opportunity to return to Jcompany and to perform Kira in Xanadu, for my family, husband, and friends who came out so strong to support me stepping back onto the stage, and for the cast on stage with me. couldn’t have done this show without such a stellar group of performers to rely on and share scenes with. We had a blast celebrating the arrival of Fall with my Soltsice tile collection at the @concretecollaborative showroom. Coffee and matcha, savory and sweet pies, and cider cocktails were the right vibe to welcome in the season. Catching up with the San Diego design community in the showroom and playing with the tile patterns was truly so much fun. Thank you for hosting @concretecollaborative

Maya is so excited to be a part of this showcase with so many talented young artists and to get to work with the amazing Michael Mizerany again. Some of her favorite roles are Roxie Hart in Chicago, Regina George in Mean Girls, Heather Duke in Heathers, and Donna in Mamma Mia. She has had a passion for theatre since she was 7 and is so lucky to have had such a supportive group of people in her life.

Last night I spoke at a private event for Jewish Beauty Professionals of NYC. The hope is that I inspired a room full of amazing people to never stop sharing the beauty that is our Jewish heritage. In the past 7 months of sharing my version of peaceful activism through digital platforms, I’ve never once spoken in front of a group of people, but last night I was invited to tell my story.

I talked about my personal pain and struggle through this time, but also how my trips to Israel helped me become a better advocate and creator in the fight against anti-semitism. It’s so easy to create content and hit post, but getting up in front of a group of people and being your most vulnerable is so difficult.

The only way I knew to prep for it was by wearing a new dress I’d been saving for a moment like this, try a new up-do ( thanks @mantel_hair ) and practice my speech (once only) in front of my husband. I didn’t want to practice it more than once because I wanted my emotions to be raw and unrehearsed.

Thank you @heathernfisher for asking me to talk. It felt so cathartic but also detoxing to tell my story, and it’s amazing what solidarity within your community can do for the soul. Thank you to everyone who gave me a safe space to share tonight. Sorry for the ugly cry. Love you!

Looking back at 2023: I was lucky enough to direct and choreograph CHICAGO AT @jcompanyyouththeatre The cast was incredible and blew the doors off of the theater. Kudos to @marina.eve.hall @bobbyfenwaychiu @mayacaidar @ttaylorswanson @benji.katzke @elizabethbenson__ @maddy.yaruss and so many others.
