The things I was certain of didn’t all come to pass, yet I found myself growing into more than I imagined. Even in uncertainty, God was still writing something beautiful.

Grateful for His grace, for AZ Preston Hall, and for a community that continues to pour into me.

One thing is certain: External Affairs is where my heart truly lies.

I was lost, but now I’m found. I was blind, but now I see! God led and directed my path, showering me with countless blessings.

I thank God for helping me realize I needed to step up my game during Covid. Undoubtedly, my report cards reflected excellence, and my record was clean, but I wasn’t outstanding compared to others in the E-Stream. Covid made me understand that acquiring a scholarship wasn’t optional, but necessary! So, I changed my game.

Until yesterday’s announcements, I didn’t believe I’d become like those I aspired to be like - a scholarship recipient but I did! Scrap that… GOD DID!

Thank you, Cal (@caleciacamille ) and The Youth Map (@youth_map), for believing in me and leading the 500k mission! Thank you, Aunty Keisha, for guiding and unwaveringly supporting me along this journey! And thank you to my Sponsor(s)!

I’m grateful to all those who’ve showed me my potential and helped me achieve it. Time would fail me to highlight everybody here. But just know that I’m grateful for everything you’ve done for me!

I’ve changed the name of my gift business thrice because I was indecisive about the purpose I wanted it to achieve.

This business idea arose from my need to give my dad, teacher and best friend a unique, special, lasting gift in January 2023. At that time, I was typing them birthday wishes and poems just rolled off my fingers.

So… I just transformed the words to Canva designs and bought a couple frames to which I added pictures (creating my first collages).

As Valentine’s Day approached, my friends encouraged me to prepare some pieces for official sale and that was the kickstart to my business venture @sincerely.dejanae.

I was later encouraged by a family member to reflect my product in my business name, so I changed it to @sincerest.poems.

Months later, my mentor encouraged me to find a name that reflected all my product offerings as I never only offered poems.

Conveniently, everything I made contained words, so… we coined the name @words.sincere with the purpose of supplying “wordy gifts to worthy people”.

This venture boomed for about a quarter of 2023 and then sales slowly started to decline. I had brilliant marketing ideas but no proper devices to execute them.

When I finally got the necessary devices, I realized that my business was dying. I’ve been contemplating cancellation for a while but reconsidered after my friends reminded me that generally, a business takes at least 3 years to be fully established.

I really tried to be patient as I really loved this venture. But as B.H. Liddell Hart said, loyalty is only a noble quality when it isn’t blind to truth.

It is true that my business has declined and I don’t have the time or drive to revive it. Just for context and clarity, I only got 2 orders this year, 2!

I haven’t given up on business, I’ve just canceled this specific venture before I start incurring losses.

As Fantasia said “sometimes you’ve got to lose to win again”. This is a necessary sacrifice for the bigger things to come.

Heart of love and gratitude to all my customers and supporters. You made me a boss bae for a good while!
