@nithishayyod (it’s his birthday- go wish him) and I were in Nagaland to shoot a wedding, but most of these frames—from Dimapur all the way to the Assam border—only happened because of Peter Longchar.
It was a Sunday, the city was completely shut down, and he was the only one who didn’t say no. He spent the day driving us around, made sure we didn’t miss our flight, and never once treated it like a transaction.
I actually just got off the phone with him a few minutes ago. He doesn’t call for work or money; he just checks in every now and then to see how we’re doing.
As a photographer, it’s a bit of a reality check that I managed to miss the one shot that actually mattered—a portrait of Peter. I have all these photos of the trip, but for him, I only have this shot of his auto.
I guess it’s a reminder that the best parts of this job usually happen when I’m not looking through the viewfinder. The “perfect” shot is great, but the people you meet in the quiet, unplanned moments are the greatest :)
Peter, thanks for the call.

A year has gone by since we shot the music video for our debut single ‘Rain Chant’ featuring members of the absolutely wonderful Halakki Vokkaliga tribe.
By far the richest and most wholesome experience for all of us.❤️
To everyone involved, we owe you!

Another day, another set of pictures shot for @sharanranjit 🫰🏼
BUT, the truth is you can shoot all you want, but you need a man like @sharanranjit to edit these so beautifully. ❤️
