So many wonderful sports and to make it even better 🎉 Eng Women got more medals this year than any men!

I’m so pleased to have played just a small part of the fringe events, as a videographer, that have happened thanks to the Games - in #Coventry and #westmidlands 🎉📸

It’s been such an exciting year already for my media business @esmemedia 🔥📸

I have recently been shortlisted to pitch for Santander Business funding £££✨

It really was a fantastic opportunity and invaluable experience - as I’ve never pitched for business investment before! (real Dragons Den style!)

💥 Despite making it to the final 10 selected within West Midlands, (which I’m over the moon with as it really is an achievement for ESMEDIA!) I was unsuccessful in being granted the business funding of up to £28,000.

✨ For me, just the experience and feedback from the panel was enough to accelerate the business even further this year- and we’re only just in February!

Last Thursday, I hosted CONNECT Christmas get together with key people who supported the academy. I wanted to give back and share my gratitude with them, and I was overwhelmed by the love and appreciation. I never anticipated such a fun yet open and honest display in a room full of people.

Today I am reflecting on the past year and the ups and downs. Since quitting my full-time job and taking a big gamble on my happiness. Several times this year, it’s been a lot of one step forward and two steps back, but I am determined to crack this rock. If it wasn't for certain people I wouldn't be able to get through it.

However, the CONNECT event really made up for everything. I appreciate the team supporters, clients, friends, and family. Thank you, all your support is fuel for me to continue this intimidating, enriching and life-affirming journey.

So thank everyone here on Instagram again for good measure (this is for everyone I know is on Insta)!

Earlier on this week, you might have seen on my stories that myself and some other lovely local bloggers/influencers were invited to the opening of @metropolisrestaurantcoventry. From the stylish Art Deco inspired interiors to the great tasting food and relaxed atmosphere, it was safe to say it did not disappoint! 👍

For my main course, I decided to go for the Paprika and thyme meatballs served with Linguine and an Arrabiata sauce and I was pleasantly surprised by the generous portion size. To accompany my dinner, I opted for one of my favourites - cheesy garlic bread and a Strawberry Bellini mocktail, and they were all incredible!

The staff were so helpful, making us feel welcome and comfortable during our visit which was brilliant too. Not to mention getting the chance to meet and connect with fellow local bloggers and influencers, which was great! 🥰

If you’re local to Coventry or fancy trying somewhere a little bit different next time you head out for food or drinks then I would definitely recommend stopping by and trying out Metropolis Restaurant.

Happy wellness Wednesday my lovelies ✨

Self care comes in all forms, including treating yourself to a nice meal out! Myself and some other lovely local bloggers were invited to the opening of @metropolisrestaurantcoventry organised by the wonderful @theempowermentagency .

The selection of food was fantastic and as I’m trying to eat less meat and gluten I really wanted to give the vegetarian menu a go and it didn’t disappoint!

The portion sizes were fantastic and of course tasted great too!

The interior is styled with an Art Deco twist, giving the restaurant a real welcoming and relaxing atmosphere!

If you’re local to coventry or simply want to try somewhere new for your next meal out I would highly recommend dropping by and sampling some of their menu and drinks!

(For reference I had the vegetarian midnight katsu with vegetarian dirty cheese and bacon fries. Drink is a pornstar martini).

Thanks again to the @metropolisrestaurantcoventry for entertaining us and providing some fantastic food and to @theempowermentagency for gathering some lovely locals to dine with!

Esmé Spurling is a multi-media professional, with specialisms in communication, video production, social media content management and photography. She is owner of the award winning media company ESMEDIA, working with both international and locally based clients.
Her work has been published in Hello! Magazine Canada, TEDX Coventry and The Guardian. Since 2015, Esmé has worked twice a year at Berlin Fashion Week, whilst continuing her academic career as Assistant Lecturer in Photography, at Coventry University.
