Spotted a familiar face bringing the ultimate Caribbean 🇦🇬 vibes to Scarborough! The incredibly talented Drastic (@fullydrastic ), a proudly Antiguan artist 🇦🇬, completely lit up the streets with his high-energy fusion of Dancehall, Soca, and Hip-Hop.

If you missed him today or just need an encore of those infectious island rhythms, you’re in luck. Make sure to check him out tomorrow at 2:00 p.m. on the Main Stage. You won’t want to miss this legendary, high-octane performance!

THE APPLE DOESN'T FALL FAR FROM THE TREE:
My mother built a legacy out of flour, sugar, and water, turning a passion for pastry into a thriving business. Back then, I was blind to the brilliance of her hustle; I couldn’t see the "diamond" she was mining, and I wanted no part of it.
Thirty years later, I’ve finally found my way into the same industry, only to realize that her grit was the raw material for an empire. She provided the gemstone, but it needed my younger eye to see the sparkle. If I could have seen the future, what a powerhouse team we would have been.
Young ones, talk to your elders. Don’t dismiss their work as outdated. Your future might be hidden in their past, waiting for your fresh perspective to turn their "diamond in the rough" into your own greatest success.

When you move with passion, you flourish—and become a greater version of yourself.~ Andria Thompson

I had the honor of briefly speaking with our @iwaa_awards keynote speaker, Mr. Andre Stephens, who passionately addressed the ongoing crisis of violence against children and women in Jamaica.

In his powerful keynote, he declared:
“I won’t stop talking until Jamaica opens the Sex Offenders Registry.”

Mr. Stephens is calling on the Jamaican diaspora to raise their voices and refuse to stay silent.

As a community activist and advocate for women, I remain committed to doing just that.

Let’s move forward with passion and purpose—united in our mission to create real and lasting change.

🛑 COMMUNITY SUPPORT NEEDED! 🛑

For 9 years, the Toronto Carnival Run has brought health, culture, and community together through Canada’s ONLY Caribbean-inspired running event. But every year, we face the SAME issue: unnecessary permit delays from the City of Toronto.

📆 It’s been over 169 days since we submitted our Special Event Permit for 2025—and we STILL haven’t received the basic approvals to move forward.

We’ve done everything right: submitted documents, followed up repeatedly, and even pre-submitted items from past years. Yet, Gloria Peters, the assigned Special Events Officer, continues to delay the process—jeopardizing our ability to serve the community.

✅ It’s time for CHANGE.
✅ It’s time for ACCOUNTABILITY.
✅ It’s time for TRANSPARENCY.

📣 Here’s how YOU can help:

👉 Call or email the following City officials and demand they fix the broken permitting system and stop blocking community events like ours:
📍 Gloria Peters – Special Event Permit Officer
📞 416-338-2572
📧 gloria.peters@toronto.ca

📍 Pamela Ferrante – Supervisor
📞 416-392-1902
📧 Pamela.Ferrante@toronto.ca

📍 Kevin Carr – Manager
📞 416-397-7470
📧 Kevin.Carr@toronto.ca

📍 Howie Dayton – General Manager
📞 416-392-8182
📧 howie.dayton@toronto.ca

📍 Christina Iacovino – Director
📞 416-392-8578
📧 Christina.Iacovino@toronto.ca

📍 Office of the Mayor – Olivia Chow
📞 416-397-CITY (2489)
📧 mayor_chow@toronto.ca

📍 Councillor Amber Morley – Ward 3 (Etobicoke–Lakeshore)
📞 416-397-9273
📧 Councillor_Morley@toronto.ca
📱 @CllrAmberMorley

🗣️ Share your frustration on social media using #FixTorontoPermits and #SupportCarnivalRun

Let’s put pressure where it’s due. Community events shouldn’t be blocked by outdated processes and lack of leadership. Toronto deserves better.

Still buzzing from BLACK 2 THE FUTURE! 🚀✨

What an unforgettable experience at this immersive augmented reality exhibit! The show truly reimagined life through AR in ways I never thought possible. 🔮

Seeing my book Over the Wall come to life through this futuristic lens was nothing short of breathtaking. Imagine stepping back in time to 1975 Barbados 🌴—and then returning to Toronto as an eight-year-old child, all through the power of augmented reality. 😮

This was more than just tech—it was storytelling elevated. It brought the WOW factor to a whole new level.

Now imagine this: commissioning your own AR experience for a project or book. 🔥 That’s not just storytelling… that’s next-level narrative innovation.

Major thanks to the incredible team behind this event. Y’all didn’t just create an exhibit—you opened up a portal to possibility. 🌀

I was so blessed to be featured in @sharenewspaper in an article about kids’ mental health. It’s so important for adults to recognize that children’s feelings are valid.

Supporting children’s mental health is crucial—it sets the foundation for their emotional well-being, healthy relationships, and future success. Early intervention helps them navigate challenges, build resilience, and develop coping skills. Let’s continue creating a world where every child feels heard, supported, and valued. 💚✨
