Prototype Hashtag Bottle Opener

@doomed_cherub asked me on Saturday evening if I could make a bottle opener

So I gave it some thought

There was nothing on the market from a blank perspective I even remotely liked - so I go work work on my own idea

And this is it

Solid brass cylindrical head, Hashtag style handle and coin

All entirely made by hand

No reason this couldn’t be done in Brass, Copper, Bronze, Steel, Titanium, Mokume Gane etc…

This one is Maple Burl and Brass - however the difference is choice, you pick and make it yours

I’ll have a reel out tomorrow talking a bit more about how I went about it and the changes I’ve already identified that I’d make - but that’s the fun bit about prototyping

This one weighs in around 178g - the counterweight in the handle could have done with being a bit bigger - but again, it’s a process and we learn as we go

For too long I have catered only to woodworkers

Now I’m looking after the alcoholics too 😅

I’ve got two other adjacent products in the ‘mix’ too - so watch this space

I’m going to create an interest list on the website tonight - if a Hashtag Bottle Opener is of interest, let me know and I may put these into production

What do you guys think?!

Finally got round to making a @makerscentral post! I had a great time volunteering on the
@makewithmakers stand running the Scrap Wood Challenge! 🪵 Thanks again to @ryobitoolsuk who sent me tools last year, that we used again 💚 as always the best bit is catching up with all my maker friends and making new ones too! Many more than those feature in the few photos I took! Until next year... #makersgonnamake

What a weekend @makerscentral was I got a collection of stickers for Felix and truly felt the love with all the great gifts.

I was fortunate enough to win the book nook that martin from @oakfields_creative creative made this has now become a nightlight in Felix’s room 🤣.

On Sunday, I won some really cool handmade books and a Welsh love spoon from our very own Andy Pugh @andycpugh

To my surprise, Aish @irechan came even though she wasn’t able to, somehow she collaborated with Katherine and completely surprised me. I’m not gonna lie I was so happy to see her face. She also brought me some awesome gifts not pictured are the whiskey glass and the skull ice mould that she got.

Andy also made a custom Welsh love spoon for Katherine and I.

The awesome Sam from @sam_paskin_woodturning gave me this really cool vintage belt buckle.

My good buddy Rich @jonlemouche gave me some leather so I can make a set of leather tarot cards 😍.

Sorry if I didn’t tag you guys in this post but that’s part one for now 🔥.

♥️ What a weekend! @makerscentral 2026 you’ve been amazing! 🥳

Always the best time with this wonderful bunch of people, some OGs, some new friends, and the familiar bar staff at the Hilton bar! 😆🍷 (far too many to tag you’re all legends! And we missed the rascals who couldn’t make it this year!)

I adore this weekend surrounded by likeminded creatives, sharing stories, exchanging ideas and inspiring one another. 🥰 (and drinking bucket loads of Guinness and mega pints of wine!😆)

So proud of the crew that did demos, talks and sessions throughout the weekend, you all absolutely knocked it out of the park once again! 🙌

Here’s to MC’27!! 🥳

Reshare• @sharkattack1979 Eh.......so when bought our house I ripped up the carpet and floored the bedrooms, I took out the saddles and floored up to the carpet bars with the idea of cutting it back when we changed the carpets, carpets are being done tomorrow.....I had a fresh blade and started on one door and then when through my multi tool box to try find a small blade for the corners at the doorstop when I found a fresh @reisser_ireland blade, now you can call me a fan boy (which i am😘) but I cut out two thresholds with the reisser blade in less time than the first one took!!! Its laminate so it takes its toll on blades but I got the other two cut with the same blade🤙🤙
If you have read this far fair play and give reisser a go 🤙🤙

@sharkattack1979 Sent by @slynch_eire today. I believe there is also a less appropriate photo that he has been secretly glancing from time to time over the years 😂😂

This year will be my last year, for the foreseeable future doing Movember Ireland . As part of team #sharkattack that was put together by Kevin Sharkey this group of a handful of random men has raised over 72k to date to suppprt mens physical and mental health, and i couldnt be prouder to have been part of this team and what it has achieved and contributed to.

In the year that it has been loosing a family member to cancer, who i aslo considered a close friend, and to witness a family come together to go through something like that may have been one of the hardest things i have had to witness. And while i dont think it makes it any easier, i do feel there is a comfort in being together in sharing that pain, and being able to talk through that pain.

So more than ever i believe the message that Movember promotes around mens physical and mental health and one final time looking for your support in supporting this cause as i will be adorning my face with a number of ridiculously style moustaches throughout this month changing each week. So this my stsrting point..and this year is for you Tony, RIP.
