We had the most beautiful launch night for IN OUR HANDS at @parnassusbooks last night! Thank you to my sister @kellysmithtrimble for being my outstanding conversation partner, to @elizabethleader for folding all the wonderful crowns, to @whitehba for holding everything together, to my parents @sharonlockettsmith and @floyd_smith2004 for making the trip from East Tennessee, and to the community of friends and strangers who gathered to connect in Parnassus’ magical bookstore!

Final countdown for tomorrow’s Western shirtmaking class @textile_fabrics_nashville , still spots open!! Don’t miss this excellent opportunity to learn a couture craft that is a part of Nashville history, and create a beautiful, wearable shirt. Wear It Out by Manny!

Manny will demonstrate every step that goes into making a shirt on his industrial equipment and assist each student individually. Students will get to see fine examples of Manny’s craft, try their hands at industrial sewing, design, cut, and create their own custom shirt. Students will need to bring a basic button-up, collared shirt pattern with a one-piece sleeve with an underarm seam (it does not need to be Western style), fabric, home machine, and supplies. Detailed instructions, a supplies list, and preparation work required before the class will be sent upon registration.

In order to complete the shirt within the four days, students will need to do some prep work and maybe some homework. Manny will provide the pearl buttons on the last day and teach students how to install it with his equipment.

Class will meet at Textile Fabrics and will include over 24 hours of instruction. The total price of the class is $480. A 50% deposit is required upon registration in order to hold your spot. You may pay Manny Cuevas via Venmo @Manny-Cuevas-7 or leave a check paid to the order of Manny Cuevas at Textile Fabric.

There’s a new book about Elizabeth Taylor out. I hope Nana got a copy at the @parnassusbooks in heaven and is snuggled up reading it today!

A finish today! Started working on this while sitting in various hospital rooms and at home with Nana after her first strokes last year. The only time I could sit long enough to work on it was during my time with her (or when she was sleeping) over the past year & a half. Grateful to put the last stitches in tonight. My dad toasted @whitehba and I with these words at our wedding, and the boys know this song by heart because it has always been one of my lullabies to them.
